need some info, lad on this site wants 2 buy a century 216 off me.he lives in cornwall,so what i need is something to post it in,would think some sort of strong cardboared tubing maybe!?The tip section is 8.5ft,any ideas? And any ideas on best company for transit and maybe an approx price as av never done owt like this before CHEERS.

old section of drain pipe will be ideal if you can find some.

i have made a load of rod tubes for my salmon and trout fly rods, got caps on the end and everything ;D

Cardboard tube from inside carpet roll.
Your biggest problem is finding a courier who will ship that length of tube as most have a length restriction and the 216 was a long tip and is probs over the length restriction.

As said, best two are inside of rolls of carpets.. or old platic drain pipe.

Get him to sort collection from a courier.. so onus is on him to ring around and waste hours finding a company that will pick it up direct from your house.

But in the past i used Nightspeed for rods.. dunno if they are still around though.. there were based at the team valley.

From what I gather, Interparcel are supposed to be pretty good & competitively priced - they'll take long tubes as well without length restriction.

Gary :)

Try Nightfreight, use them regularly at work and I believe there max is 3m, so you should be ok. Probably be about £20 I think

I have used Interparcel many times & they are great to be honest. Nothing has arrived damaged, infact no dents in boxes or anything. They will take it no problem & it will probably cost under a tenna. If you are stuck for carpet roll just try making a long box to the sizes needed out of joined boxes & plenty tape , could even make it a triangle type.

You could also use the tubes that roller blinds come in. I may have one at home but don,t know if it's as long as 8ft, and you'd have to collect from Longhoughton.
Will check to see if I still have it and it's length if you are interested.
