advice on beach fishing around seahouses

I fancy having a crack at beach fishing, am living in seahouses and havent been out for years i was wondering whether the sandy beach between bamburgh and seahouses was worth a go? the water looks pretty shallow? what about the beach at beadnell? ... any tips on beach fishing would be really welcome, thanks in advance :) james.
 
I holiday there each summer. The beach is indeed shallow. Most people seem to fish off the rocks (where the big stone shelter is). The water is deep off these. It looks to be a bit of a tackle loss nightmare though.

you wont get better marks than the rocks at seahouses,straight infront of the harbour yes its snaggy ,but where else vcan you get good cod FLATCALM conditions ,in the summer;)every time weve fished there av saw good cod 5lb plus and over 8 lbs
 
thanks for the tips, bit reluctant to fish around the rocks, but might give it a go. I remember all the snags that came with fishing around the rocks. tryed just to south of seahouses harbour (like mick suggested) about 6-7years ago and got a snag on pretty much every cast:p. had an idea that the water on the beach might be a bit shallow for anything decent - cheers though:)
... does anyone reckon the water is a bit deeper on the beach at beadnell? had a scout down there last week and it looks like it could well be?
 
... so the only worthwhile spots around seahouses are amongst the rocks hmmm:( iam/was planning on beach nightfishing if that makes any difference. okay ta.

alright greg - on and off for about 4years - was living in london for a bit but the recession has meant am back with my folks - which isnt ideal.
 
There is marks off the rocks where tackle loss cannot be to bad. I,ve seen the lads fishing into what must be gulleys. Why don,t you have a walk down one day when someone is fishing and quiz them.
I can see one spot in my mind now where the locals go its not far from the stone shelter thing built on the rocks.
You are lucky to be living in such a nice place.
We stay on the Seaview site and it has a cracking gym and baths.

thanks for the advice fellas - reckon i'll give it a bash sometime soon - got all my gear out of the shed the other day - have not looked at it for years and years - ive got a few very old fixed spool reels - and a couple of 12foot beachcasters and a spinning rod. gonna oil them and replace the line on all the reels, i must have at least 30lb stuff on at the mo!

Best of luck mate. Least if you've got a range of kit then you can chop and change at ease, set one up for rough, one for clean and the spinning rod for light work - if you've got waders then try the shallow beaches on light gear but wade out and use a plain lead so it moves with the current or come summer try flicking some lures around the backs of the breakers.
 
thats them 8, they can't be mistaken, at eye level theres an 8' white stag painted on them:exclam: tried spinning on the odd occasion form there last summer over high water, hoping for mackeral or even a bass. no joy. have also tried bait fishing off the end of the rocks on the bigger tides over low water. no joy:D but i'll keep going and giving it a bash, one day:rolleyes:........
