Advice on spinning

I'm well up for doing some spinning from the rocks and piers in the area this spring and summer and would like general information from anybody who has any experience. Planning to fish around North/South Shields.

If you can travel further why not venture up to Craster or even Beadnell...

All manner of pointy rocky ledges up there that are perfect for spinning with lures/leadheads etc...one lad off here took a PB 6lb+ Pollock from Beadnell Point last year

Blyth Pier is a Macky hotspot also

In fact if you look at the Coastline from North Shields to just Blyth there's LOADS of rocky ledges that must chuck something out to the lures...

Spinning from the rocks can be a tackle graveyard if you are not sure of the depth of water,plus you have the obvious dangers of tides turning on you,best advice would be to have a look on a big spring tide at Low water and get a feel for the mark/area you want to fish,Whitley Pipe is reasonbly deep water to fish from but can be dangerous,only fish there on a settled sea with a westerly breeze or calm.Peeping Toms Rocks at Blyth which is on the river side of Blyth Pier,not saying you'll catch a biggun there but it will give you a start and get you used to spinning from rocks,its probably best to try somewhere with a decent stretch of rocks so you can move around.You could also consider float fishing from the rocks but you'll need a decent depth of water and will be trial and error.
Is there somewhere you had in mind to fish if so somebody might help you on whether it will be any good

Was thinking about the rocks around King Edward's Bay at Tynemouth. Don't drive so can't get any further North than Whitley Bay.

sink and draw is the best method, cast out let it sink a bit, lift the rod, reel in as you a lowering the rod, and repeat, you want the bait to look like a fish in distress.
