hi lads have any of you used or own an akios reel im thing about buying one to go with my new rod, im thinking about getting an akios shuttle 656scm. thanks dave

my m8 got one. can not get away with it i think he payed £179 .99 for it . i would pay that little bit more and get a daiwa mag

I bought an Akios 757cs for £79 .99 plus £5.95 postage from Fishtec on eBay just over a week ago.

I've only had it out (in a manner of speaking ;)) four times since it arrived but early indications are very good. Smooth action, easy and predictable to manage on a long cast, the level wind makes life easy for me at night and it seems very stoutly built.

Time will tell but, so far at least, I'm very impressed overall. It's kind of like fishing with an old "proper' Abu, or that's how it feels to me.

It was recommended by Ian Alexander (so this all his fault :)) in my Which Multiplier thread, so a big ta muchly to Ian for the suggestion.

I'll be out with it this weekend so if you want a sneaky peaky and a cast or three I suppose that could be arranged. I'm just north of Whitley Bay and I'll probably be prowling around Cullercoats or Tynemouth on Saturday and/or Sunday some time. Give me a shout if you want to try it, which might give you a better idea of what to expect from the much higher end 6 series.

A mate of mine up at Oban has an Akios Shuttle 656scm and he love it to bits. I guess a lot of this will come down to personal preference and expectations.

Good luck with it if you decide to invest.

Av had a few chucks on the field with the shuttle and it feels great just like the old Abu's, am defo gona have one in the next month or so.

I've got the shuttle 555 on my bass bandit, and have to say its my fav reel, super smooth and casts a dream, only wish I had the cash for the 656 too!

iv got the 656ct and i took the brakes out and 2 magnets and it flys out. i havnt caught anything big with it yet so i wouldnt know how it would cope with a decent fish.. but for casting 10/10

my mates got one,the only thing ive noticed on it is the paint, its gone faded, don, tknow wather that because of salt,i know it casts well

hello lads a fish & cast with them & can not fault them in any way, had my biggest cast with the 666scw & landed my biggest fish with the 656 shuttle, theres also a bigger geared reel coming out that you rock lads might like
