i am gonna have a shot up alnmouth( not warkworth as i posted before) river tommorow evening, just down from the bridge. does anyone know any good spots on the river?, iv\'e heard its a good plaice lol for flounder
also i am fishing light gear, river rod and 6lb line with plaice rigs and 1-2oz sinkers as i fancy a bit of fun. do ya think this is to light?

From the bridge, looking downstream, you can see a left hand bend in the river, about 300 yards down. Head for there.

Cast either into the main channel, or further across onto the worm beds.

One or two bass have have been taken from here, as well as sea trout, but mainly flounder around the 1.5lb mark, so your tackle will be ideal.

You will need rag tipped with macky, or crab.

thanks for that info tony, looking from the bridge what side has best access left or right. i have noticed in a pic from the sa guide the left hand side seems quite easy to walk down and fish.

i forgot to say i am fishing with mackrel, rag and maybe a few small crab, dont want to waste the big ones got to keep them for the big cod lol :D

alan, it says in the sa guide to top marks that it fishes all year but thats just from the book, thats why i fancied a look up, i recon that tony will know better as thats his neck of the woods

havnt heard a thing yet from the lad, give him a bell tomorrow when he finishes work, i\'ll let you no though mate if a get out, fingers crossed \"X\" ;)

If the book says so then it must be true.
june till october I recken is the best time for decent flatties.

Not disagreeing with Tonys advice but just adding a little extra.
2oz is fine on the flood but no use on the ebb, 4oz grip or watch lead will be needed if you dont want snagged.
You need to look at this mark at low water to see the snaggy areaes and pools.
About 40 yards from the gate is nice spot. You will see a coping on the wall which is indented, this is a snag free pool which produces good catches of flounders.Although casting from here can be difficult due to the thornbush hedge.
Further round to where Tony has suggested but not as far as the point can be good for flounder.
Don\'t forget to take some spinners as the point area throws up some canny bass and sea trout at this time of year, infact fly fishing at the point can be great at dusk, at least it was last year.

warning if you are spinning up there,watch you dont get caught up in the Gill nets thats probably just been layed out :(
