Well after getting geared up for a nights fishing at cresswell other parties decided it would be better to head for amble pier. The wind was howling but that really didnt bother me i was well wrapped up. Anyway with my first cast came my first fish..... A small coalie. I didnt have much hope when we headed to Amble but this give me some encouragement. Well how wrong I was .. not another bite all night. I did manage to catch myself a sinker but that was about it.Anyways it got me out the house for a few hours so I wasnt too bothered. That monster cod will have to wait till next time out lol !!

I gave up on amble pier a long time ago. Used to be canny about 20 years ago, but few times I've been since, it's been hopeless. Never been for about 10 years.

I remember pulling 2 or 3 fish at a time on feathers in the river mouth....20 years ago.....not any more a doubt.
