Amble pier fire...repercussions.

A few nights ago, 5 "anglers" decided it would be a good idea to have a fire on Amble pier.
The result was approximately £3000 worth of damage.
As a goodwill gesture, Amble SAC will be making a donation to the harbour commision to help with restoration costs, and at the Open on the 15th Jan we will have a bucket available for any angler who also wishes to make a donation, no matter how small.

We hope this gesture will go some way to showing not all anglers are thoughtless idiots, and hopefully keep the pier open for OUR use.
Because of this latest vandalism, there is a strong possibility that anglers will be banned from using the pier.

Another way to help would be to report the scum responsible to either the police or the commisioners.
Someone must know who is responsible, so please, do the right thing.

one of my favorite fishing spots (dunston staithes) has been set on fire multiple times by idiots fishing as a result it has been fenced off and you cant fish on it anymore

sadly, the minority alway's spoil thing's for the honest sensible angler,
happened a few year ago at blyth, but that was during silly season.
hope it all end's well.

fire on a wood pier total mindless ****ers ,
just giving more problems to have the pier closed to fishing

It's bad enough having to clean up after lazy anglers without them ruining spots for everyone as well. I hope they are caught and made to pay for repairs.

Looks like it was caused by a barbeque? here is some more on this Anglers’ recklessness causes fire on Amble pier | The Ambler

Not sure whether the article is wrong, the harbour master or the cops who went but it certainly is a crime.
