Is amble pier closed at night, if so what times are the gates open

It doesn't close mate. The gate at the far end is to keep folks off the unfenced bit.

I say it's not closed, but unless the litter problem improves drastically it will be closed to anglers.

Used to fish there all the time with my dad/brothers when we had a caravan there in the 70's, think I've only been back along two or three times as an adult - though I've had the kids fishing for little coleys in the harbour a few times.

It's one of the great joys of fishing, the look on kids faces when they're catching fish !

yep - poundshop rods and reels, crushed the barbs in on some small hooks and the 3 of them happily fished catch-and-release, grinning from ear to ear for a good couple of hours despite getting nothing bigger than about 3" long!
Best laugh was them keeping count and Sam bragging he'd caught the most and that he was so good he could probably catch fish without any bait - which naturally he proceeded to do just to prove it
