Hi Guys , fished Amble beach opposite caravan park looking out to Croquet island on Sunday evening from 5.45 till 11.30 and had a great night for me. Set off using a 2 hook flapper hoping for flatties or whiting . Nothing till about 7 then got a nice bite and low and behold a lovely little codling of about a lb , my first ever cod :D. To say I was chuffed to diddly would be an understatement . So after I'd done my cod dance I carried on to catch 5 more , biggest being about 1.5lb , All of which where returned safely to grow much bigger :D. Had a few more bites which I missed and lost one in the kelp ... boo . By this time I was using a 4/0 pulley rig to try and get a big one lol. Sea was dead calm , bait used was fresh lug n mussel cocktail, did also try Mackie n squid but they preferred the lug . One more thing before I got set up I went for a wander along the beach and found a small thornback ray about 14inches from nose to tail are they unusual for up here ?
