Anglers meeting with defra.

I am posting this message here as it is the busiest part of the forum.

Angling representatives have been invited to a meeting with Defra to discuss our wants.

The meeting is next thursday 15th...so time is short

So just who are these representatives. There are 15 different organisations going and of those 4 are from the NE. We are well represented in terms of numbers.

Paul...the skipper of sea otter 2 and chairman of the whitby skippers association (Big cod)
Tony Anderson...The NSFC angling rep
And me as a rep from SOS, but I am also a NSFC rep and the regional co ordinator for the SACN.

If you have a valid point or feel strongly about proposed things you would like to put to Defra any of the above people would be happy to put it over or at least take it into account.

As you may be aware the marine bill was introduced in the queens speech so will be debated in this session of parliament. The issue of a sea license raises it ugly head again...have your say and post here or pm one of the people mentioned above. If they are not on this forum I will get in touch with them on your behalf.

I realise this should be in Conservation and politics ...but then who reads that...we need feedback to voice your opinions. If you dont say anything now ...please dont complain later that you never knew about it.

Regards
Dave

Good comment sless...

We were very unlucky that after what can only be called a positve meeting with milliband national politics took over.

I chased the tosser in Leeds...never replied... which i believe is against the law...now we have a new fisheries minister.

At the end of the day defra make the recommendations and the minister signs the bottom line.

RSA reps have continued pushing government and this meeeting is a direct result of that pressure. By pure chance the ne have a good turn out in terms of representation. Lets use it and make the best we can..

You got a pm.:)

Cheers
Dave

I wouldn't say it's cut and dried, i think it's just the beginning of the changes in the way RSA is being manipulated to create jobs for the boys/girls. There hopefully will be some good comes out of it, ie golden mile etc etc as for licences and the resulting damage to the infrastructure of the sea angling fraternity nationwide if they are implimented beggars belief. I would pay for a licence if i could see what i was getting for my money, but that's not going to happen,so they will incur more expense trying to get me to buy one .

we all know this government is anti blood sport....... thay want to ban angling but will not as long as they can get money out of it . if they cant they will try to ban it just like they did with hunting with dogs..as for the meeting ...all anglers views are well known ...............
