al give you a tip m8 watch your head alot of side casters seen a few bulls eye hits with 6oz lead over the years.

Blyth pier you don't go right along to the end thats where the a lot of the numpty's go anywhere either side of the bend will do, get your self a float and fish a depth of about 10-15ft size 2 hook and mackerell flaper for bait its more fun and this time of year it normally fishes better than lures.Watch out for the weather this week the forecast is crap ese winds if the sea lifts it will colour the water and it'll be a waste of time

Jik, im heading down to south shields pier in the morning mate. If u fancy that then give me a shout. Plenty of decent enough spots for spinning providing the weather doesnt go mad with the wind!!

Ah thanks for the offer, will definitely give you shout if heading to south shields.

Just a question about using a flapper rig though, would that be alright on a 10 ft spinning rod? Would I bait if with mackerel or rag?

Picked up some daylights earlier so going to try those with either a 1 oz or a koster.

Well we went along Blyth pier, came back with empty bags but had a great time anyway..a local gem by the name of John (if you're reading this John, we love you!) stood with us for a while and gave us plenty of tips for the future too.

Next time trying with floats though, saw a guy going home with a couple of large ones off his float rig..

I plucked a couple of mackerel off shields pier but everyone else had blanked whilst i was there. Pity you didnt make it. Too much river water pouring out of the local rivers at the moment mate, you would be better off bait fishing for flatfish etc that dont get as bothered by the less salty water.

I've only got the one rod, and that's quite a light spinning rod, do you think that be alright for bait-fishing flatties too?

Planning on getting a stronger rod for the winter like, might not be too bad to get it early.. :)
