Any idea where I can get some peelers from the shore for free without causing crab war 3. :D

Anywhere in the lower reaches of the tyne and the shoreline that is accessible and has places for crabs to hide in whilst they peel (under rocks, etc), though obviously don't go rumaging through peoples tyres..... ;)

Look for places giving good access to the shoreline at low tide. Camels Island at Marsden is a good spot, lots of rocks that are moveable for the crabs to hide under, as well as lots of holes, knooks and crannies for them to hide in. Watch out when putting your hands into holes though, the last thing you want is to be nipped by a big lobster or two, as they are found down there hiding in the bigger holes at low tide. :)

Thanks for the heads up Andy but my post was in jest, I would rather buy it in the tackle shop or off the lads with too much to use themselves. ;)

What's that about putting my holes into holes haha. :D

Im a local lad who is starting to collect crab and as far as I see it it's first come first served where ever you go,I'm not here to wind people up I just want free local bait just like any other angler

Eddie, i put the question on (where to collect peelers) because i am new to the area. Didn't know they were so protective about there Crabs over here lol! Saying that, i now know where to go and collect ;) and what is in the sea by the way on our coastlines, is owned by the Queen, be it a tyre/rock/rug or anything else. So if they put a tyre in there, they are fly tipping and i will be CRAB collecting :o FREE.

Just from a different perspective,I had plenty of fresh crab last season and had better results on bluey, even when so called experienced, good anglers told me I would blank on certain shots, if I did not have fresh crab (I didn't blank) so I won't be so desperate to find crab, this season.
Although I realise crab is a good bait there are always alternatives.
Times are changing chaps.
