Hello everyone, new on here so hope you dont mind my first post being a question.
Have just taken shore fishing back up again after a long spell away from the sport.
I recently bought a second hand rod and reel of my local classifieds after doing some research.
The rod is a total enigma and i cant find a single thing about it online.
Have been told the rod was less than a year old (its in mint condition) and it was won in the tynemouth open comp
Its a cono-flex source lite 12'6" optimum casting weight 3-5 oz
I can find info on the cono-flex sourch match and estuary (both 13 footers) but nothing on the source lite
Is it possible it was a custom build by conoflex for the competition prize?
Its in a totally different colour scheme to the other source rods, a very dark purple
I can try and post some pics if it helps
Any info much appreciated
cheers

Not a 100% sure but that looks to be the same decals rutherfords uses.
Just took it down to rutherfords
He had no idea either, said he had never seen or heard of one before
Apparently it similar to the original source with a slimmer butt section
Looks like cono-flex may be the only ones with the answers

is it gonna end up on dickinsons real deal mate or you just curious ??

Haha nah i have no intention of trying to sell it
I am curious, but also wondered what sort of fishing the rods capable of.
If its based on the lighter estuary match rod it probs not suited to much winter fishing for cod etc but the original source was more of a all round jobby of a rod, so was wondering which way the source lite was leaning.
Or it might be rod for even lighter use than the estuary match?not sure what that would be though
So its just curiosity and a bit of info on what the rod was designed for
cheers

from what I have read its a light estuary rod , 3 to 5 oz tells you its not a powerhouse for the rough stuff ... probably more than capable over sandy/shingle beaches though ...

Yes your right, its seams far to thin in the tip for over the rocks.
I have a Ron thompson accelerator (think thats what its called) somewhere in the shed i used to use it at the werry in marsden, its a horrible rod, i could not put a bend in the thing no matter what when casting but it had plenty of grunt for pulling over the rough stuff
conoflex might be ok for off the pier in winter its mixed ground?
Thanks for help

6 or 7 years . davy.

Thanks for that
Just got off the phone whith conoflex
Very helpfull guy said he was just reading my email and was about to get back to me
There where no more than 10 of the rods made and some of them did go for prizes in competitions so that bit was probably correct
They where sort of a prototype that where made with a 20mm butt rather than the 24mm they use in the source and the source estuary match and the end was tapered to match.
So its a slightly lighter rod than the estuary match
they didnt advertise the rod so no-none really knew anything about it and thats why just the one batch was made.
Anyway mystery solved
thanks for help

Still got my Source Estuary match is over ten years old,was going to suggest yours was probably a batch of cut down/shortened versions, original like mine are 13 feet long.Slimmer and lighter yours bargain at that price,be a lovely rod like my original. Its not an ideal rod for the pier, maybe calm days onto clean ground,1st gate Shields pier and the like, and certainly not for mixed or heavy ground unless your heavy float fishing or spinning what l ve utilised mine for after pollack and wrasse.

At its best at what it says as on the blank, estuary and clean beachs, light lines, multi or fixed spool reels, scratching or match fishing smaller species flatties and eels.Saying that it will still smack 4ozs and a two hook flapper 80yrds plus , and not smash the baits up.Hope this give you some ideas on it use.
