Certain comps ban certain baits? I understan that not everyone can afford white worm and crab but why should the people who can be penalized its like saying you cant use a certain rod or reel because not everyone can afford them either is there another reason?i understand about cart but why certain natural baits such as crab ot white worm banned anyine kniw?

its to try and get more lads to fish the comps, and why spend money on good bait when you can catch flats on blacks/rag and mackeral. people think its because the lads who run the comps cant get crab and whites when really they have tires and have plenty of bait suppliers to sort them out with whites but there is no need to use them for flounders anyway as most baits will work just fine for them but all baits have their days ;)

It gives the once a week fisherman a chance and increases participants in comps, if all baits where allowed 30 / 40% of anglers wouldnt compete .

It's fair enough,in my opinion.Your comp,your rules,if anyone isn't happy,
they don't have to fish.
The popularity or otherwise with the rules, will determine how successful
a competition is,by the number of participants.

A lot of these matcha anglers use imported continental rods now. Think they would be gutted if all rods over 14ft were banned for comps. Stupid rules as everyone can have an advantage over the next person whether it be bait, additives, equipment, tackle and knowledge. It's kind of like telling premier league footballers they can only use their left foot in the first couple of rounds of the fa cup as they have too big an advantage over non-league teams. Unfortunately nothing is democratic any more so we just have to suck it up and accept Phil as their comebacks will always be "you dont have to fish it"

Fully agree i know hossack gets alot of stick for getting fresh crab in winter but why should he and others be penalized for having the best bait i think they should allow any bait or even better everyone has the same bait in the peg matches especially. I read about a beach comp some were everyone had the same bait and the same amount and the skill was using your bait sensible. No good for me as i try to choke the fish but though it was a good idea. Everyone can get silvers and crab its just if you want to pay the money for it same as rods and reels

Do you fish them Phil ?

The opens and a few peg matches when i get time was just asking if there was another reason why certain baits were banned i know about cart and as its illegal fair enough but to say baits are to expensive when you have the match lads using rods that most have not even hurd of them
