Sitting in a jumper, watching **** telly, eating Doritos...that's mad. Fishing is freedom. Keep doing it. Stay sane.

Wearin shorts and suncream bagging up with mackerel.... :o

Nothing wrong with a bit of fishing in bad weather, beats that rubbish on Saturday night telly!

That's what makes it exciting, sitting staring at a rod tip to be surprised what could be on the end of the line, I really am a soft shi*e & hate getting wet and cold but I look forward to this time of year from March onwards

Snow. Wind. Rain. Sun it's all the same just hoping for that pb fish or new species when the rod tip goes so does your heart beat with excitement ask the missus she says we all must be mad lol

Makes you feel alive when you're in terrible weather. I've had the onset of hypothermia twice while I've been out, once on whitburn beach, once on shields pier. I've had a fish frozen to the pier and sea water ice up on the rings of my rod as it was that cold, but I wouldn't change a thing.

You can't beat the feeling of getting in the house after you've been out in that, as you warm up, your cheeks just start to glow.

None of that bothers me mick.... The bloody wind though drives me mental!!!!

wor

wor

my family think im mad.

i look out the window and the worse the weather gets the more i want to be out.

been doing it 45yrs now and still get excited :)

Coldest I've ever been was 20 plus years ago, fishing the old Vidor Batteries plant (where was that - wish I could remember) on the Tyne. It was many degrees below zero and the line on the retrieve was icing up as soon as it left the water. Tried to move at one stage for a bit and my boots were iced stuck to the ground.

What usually gets me though the worst of weathers is always the hope that this next sessoin is going to be a winner. I could have had 6 blanks in a row, the sea could be flat as a witches and my bait may be hanging, but I can tip up on a mark and start off thinking "why not, this is going to be the sesh that a pig almost takes my rod out to sea."

Love the anticipation of it all.

My missus just does not understand why we sit in the freezing cold mid winter in the hope of a lunker" her and the little un always say am I off to drown Some more worms haha .
I do wonder why when nothing is catching we always say ladt cast and it never is we always have more in the hope of a fish.

The missus thinks am a few sarnies short of a picnic. There's been many a time when I've been waiting for her to get in from work on a night time then I'm out the door for a chuck. Remember a few winters back when it was bad and I would walk from my place to tynemouth/cullercoats in blizzard conditions. I've fished in freezing fog when my lines been freezing and the fish I've caught have frozen solid. Also watched the wall of snow coming down the tyne when fishing in the docks, which looked awesome.

As already said, it makes you feel alive, the excitment, the anticipation of feeling a good lunge when your stood in a daze. There's nothing like it, just man against nature, it does'nt get any better.

When I was about 13 yrs old I was fishing off the end of the Heugh when the rod went down on its own and nearly went in if a bloke did not grab it. 7lb cod biggest fish I had ever caught. It never leaves you the anticipation of when is the next lunker. Even when its freezing.
Mick.
