we were fishing s/shields pier after dark . there was a cry for help it seemed to come from the north pier area it went on for a while at first bob patta and i thought it was kids. the cry for help got more desperate so i called the coastguard he said he had another report about the same thing .the lifeboat turned up with 2 other boats the life boat came across to s/shields pier and got info of us the coastguards turned up on both piers the one on s/shields pier was talking to us he had his radio on we could hear what was going on boulmer helicopter had been scambled .then it came aparent there were 4 drunk teenagers running off tyne mouth pier the coastguard could not catch them after a quick search they called every body off what a waste of time and money what arse holes

We were fishing the black path on thursday night, Coast guard was out along with a helicopter. The helicopter searched the full length of the coast line, Not sure if they found anyone??

a was on south pier last night and rescue services ( three boats )were there for quite a long searching and searching going over areas time and time again and found nowt. the coast guard came on to the south pier to talk to us to find out exactlly wat wenton, we told him wat we heard and confirmed he had reports like we said , then report came over in radio to say 4 youths that were drunks making a racketand seen coming off the north pier then seem to disapear

apart from them being totally mindless idiots, someones life could have been in jeopardy that night and at that time, and the chopper and boats would have been somewhere else.
