THE LAST THREE TIMES IVE DUG LUG THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE DIGGING OUT OF BOUNDS IN FRONT OF THE BOATS IS GETTING TO BE A JOKE . ONE DAY IT MAY BE ALL OUT OF BOUNDS BECAUSE OF THESE PEOPLE... USE SOME COMMON SENSE ..

Hi jamcod......welcome to NESA......Hope you enjoy ya visits here.

Just 1 thing........can you take the Caps Lock off when you post, as writing in capital letters is regarded as SHOUTING on the net..........not the done thing, m8, cheers ;)

it\'ll be boulmer stores, you\'ve only got to walk for a couple of hundred yards to be in bounds. If your looking in you lazy tossers, fuck right off. jamcod you\'re right m8, it\'ll be banned soon full stop because of these NOBHEADS

I seriously doubt that the idiots who are digging out of bounds at Boulmer are the sort who will have any interest on what is said here.
I imagine most of them have trouble reading big words anyway

tell itlike it is ell! :casstet:

There were 3 K**BHEADS digging directly below the boats on Saturday night. Talking to an old guy who goes walking down there regularly and he said it\'s the same 3 digging there all the time. Apparently some of the fishermen have had words with them but got a load of abuse. Mackems apparently. If they aren\'t gonna listen to the Boulmer lads then maybe old plod and an appearance in court might make them think twice before doing it again.
Maybe they\'re illiterate and can\'t read the sign posts thaqt are stationed around the harbour?

more than likely they are commercial diggers and dont give a tooss as long as they are getting loads of worm to sell to the shops.the worst thing about it is people like us that dont dig where we are not allowed leave more for the tossers who dont care.

firstly there is no such thing as \"out of bounds\" at boulmer, the bylaw cannot be enforced if you are collecting bait for your own use

secondly i agree anyone digging where the lads take their tractors down or pull the boats up is an inconsiderate idiot and deserves to have a trench dug around their car with a jcb just to see how they feel about life being made difficult

thirdly the problem definately originates from south of the tyne, i know the persons involved and have explained to them that the fishermen [who i know personallyl] don\'t give a $h1t where they dig as long as they leave the very small strip of beach they use alone. obviously they have took on board what i have said.

fourthly blaming commercial diggers is always the easy option but how many can say they have never bought bait from a shop or taken more worms than they need forcing the commercial diggers out of bounds so they can fill their orders.

the easy solution to all the problems at boulmer would be for alnwick council to drop a load of hardcore in the area the fishermen use, this would sink into the sand within a few tides and make digging impossible in that area.

sorry Loneranger, you are wrong about their being no out of bounds area at Boulmer and the bye law can be enforced. Baitdigging can not be stopped by a bye law but it can be restricted. It was going to be stopped the last time until a few of us managed to get the concession that is in place now. When next Alnwick District council say they are going to stop it. I for one will not be arguing the toss. It is idiots who dig out side of agreed areas that got Budle Bay stopped and thses are the first ones on the phone asking what the federations are going to do abpout it.

Regarding the South of the Tyne thing, I think we all know these abuses have been carried out by people from all over the place.

a couple of years ago i was digging on the wrong side of the boulders which mark the boundry and was taken to court for it. as the council couldnt prove i had no legal right to occupy the beach and was collecting bait for my own personal use they couldnt prosecute me! hence if you are collecting bait for your own personal use they cannot enforce the bylaw.

you know as well as me alan that the real problem with budle bay stems from a warden who has no concept of how a beach ecosystem works and has it in for anglers in general. if you remember the original agreement for budle said we could have holy island and now he has reduced the digging there to one small area, how long before that is closed as well? how can a man who gets excited about a sandeel because he has never seen one before be put in charge of a marine nature reserve!

ell, the problem goes a lot further than boulmer.

every time i have seen people digging where the tractors go down or around the boats and moorings i have gone over to talk to the people involved and explain the situation as they are affecting a friends livelihood. without exception they have all been from south of the tyne. some have moved as they didnt realise the situation but others just carried on regardless.

i talk to people from all over the country through the casting circuit and whenever you talk to the scots the subject of bait diggers comes up. they have the same problems there, litter, abuse and digging areas until they have little or no hope of recovery. they call the diggers geordie ba$tards, i suggested they check the tax discs and explained what a geordie was..........no prizes for guessing where the tax discs originated?

the diggers graft hard for their money, i know i used to do it! but a little respect and thought about the areas you dig and the people who live there goes a long way to maintaining both worm stocks and good relations with the locals.

as i mentioned in my first post i know the fishermen very well especially john mcq junior as i fished with him in a small club we used to have some years back so have every sympathy with their situation and the only solution i can see is is to make that area impossible to dig!

John Mcqueen is one of the mebers of our club. Having been born and bred in Boulmer it P***es me off no end to see them flouting the areas. I\'m already pi**ed off coz I now live in Alnwick and have to travel there and dig for hours just to get enough for a 5 hr session. At one time the harbour was full of worms but they are getting harder and harder to get. All the secret places we used to have are now being exploited. One place in particualr used to be cracking and now all there are is immature worms. 30-40 people per day can be digging Boulmer at the peak of the season.Surely an ecosystem can\'t cope with this.
It\'s also not only the fishermen that are supposed to benefit from the boundaries....how many anglers have noticed the lifeboat station there?It\'s not funded by the RNLI....It\'s funded by the villagers who are also up the swanny if one of the fishermens boats gets into difficulty and the lifeboat can\'t be launched! Are these bait diggers boat anglers as well. How would they feel if the lifebaot couldn\'t get out to them due to the fact it couldn\'t be launched?

Certain foreshores/harbours say no bait digging, how do you stand legally if you get pulled for digging ? who does the foreshore belong to ? heard there was a old magna carta law that the shoreline belongs to the public so that they can fish to feed themselves.I know you have to possibly cross private land/property to access the shore but what if you walk along the shore from a public area onto a site where there is supposedly no digging.
