Bait shop - near Banburgh

They were a few years back when I was staying at Seahouses. Worth a phone call.

I'll give them a call, I can't believe that I have to drive for 40 minutes from Bamburgh.

I suppose I co uld try and dig for my own worms but don't have a clue on how to do it, I've seen loads of casts on the beach but no idea how far down to dig etc.

Any advice gents?

Jim

Hello,
I was in the gift shop the other day and I'm not sure that they have much left of anything and are pretty near to closing down by the looks of it. Half the shop is cordoned off and I'm not sure if I noticed if the bait fridge/freezer is still there.
The Pet shop just across the road has started to sell fishing bait but I don't know if it's the preserved rubbish or frozen.

Your best bet is to go to Amble Angling centre for fresh bait or go to the tackle shop at Berwick thet sells frozen Ammo stuff. If you are realy stuck then go to Swallow fisheries in Seahouses and have a look, they will have makerel and squid.

I have a caravan up at Seahouses and take all my bait up with me when I go.

Good luck, Ian.

as Ian said best off taking your own or amble is the closest as I found out while staying at my mams caravan up there (forgot to take bait out of car :red:) resulting in a long drive down to amble then back

Went to Amble and got some Rag, then went to the pet shop in Seahouses and picked up some mackeral, seandeels and some black lug.

So anyone looking for bait in Seahouses, the pet shop does most frozen stuff.

Thanks for all the advice gents.

Hi all, I'm heading up North in a few weeks and want to check if anything has changed in the last year regarding bait shops near Seahouses or Bamburgh.

Never dug my own bait so not really an option effort me :(

Cheers,

Jim

jimmy theres no change since last years threads, dont no your situation, ie are you stopping there for a week on holiday, and where are you staying. last time {6 weeks ago} i was in pet shop,{buying pet food} hahaha, they had some nice frozen blacklug aswell as frozen fish baits, if your staying local in that area wouldent think you should need to travel for your bait, unless your after fresh bait, then i would surgest amble tackle shop, you may even be able to collect it on your way up. ps, hope this is of some help. like ian alexander ive also got s/caravan up that area, great for fishing beadnell area. tight lines.

Thanks for the reply, I'll be staying there for a few weeks :)

Why do you say "wouldent think you should need to travel for your bait, unless your after fresh bait, then i would surgest amble tackle shop, you may even be able to collect it on"

If I didn't use fresh bait what would you suggest? lures, jellies and spinners?

Thanks again,

Jim

IF possible take fresh or frozen mussles up with you, aswell as fresh or frozen crab, shouldent fail with that around rock areas, even mix it all up with f/f mackeral. you still never said what or were you are staying. ps, again as said that petshop in seahouses may still have frozen blacks in stock. so thats it jimmy if the fish are there, you CANNOT fail? tight lines.:thumbup:

Thanks again, I'm staying in a house on The Wynding in Bamburgh so almost straight on the beach and just a little walk from the rocks near the golf club.

I was going to try my LRF rod in Seahouses off the harbour wall for some light action too :)

Thanks again.
