Heard that fishing boats have been banned from. Landing whitling beacuse they are been over fished but a always thort that there were was a lot of whiting

yes your right us comercials have been given a total whiting ban. wont affect us smaller boats as we dont catch many but the trawlers will feel it i suppose.

Pretty poor number of people supporting this in all honesty....Is it coz fish aren't as cuddly as chickens. Hopefuly once the Channel 4 series starts and more people see the issue highlighted, maybe the number will go up then!

Why oh why can't Britain (aren't we supposed to be GREAT Britain...?) just, for once, say no to Brussels. Why can't the UK manage it's own seas and its fishing?
I strongly feel we should stick two fingers up to Brussels and go our own way.

We should vote Mick Ashley to tell them we are dropping out, he would ahve no problem with cutting ties with the EU and would never speak with the press or take questions to give them any roads to go down.

the reason we can't manage our own waters is because when we joined the then called common market, that grinning dickhead ted heath signed away all our fishing rights to the e.u so that the french would give us thier vote, and that's when our problems with fish stocks really started ,i have no problem with british commercials fishing british waters for british people but in my opinion thats where it ends.

yes your right mate . thats why i stick to me 21ft cygnus and do mostly potting so all the by catch goes back un harmed. i do gill nets in winter but it is really hard to make a living. seals being the biggest killer to our living and then the quotas. i mean the whitey ban wont affect us small boats but it makes no sense in giving us a bit of cod quota and banning whiting so all the big boats are dumping fish yet again . its all wrong our government is total and utter shi*te. then you get the dutch spanish etc etc beam trawlers plowing our grounds then landing there catch in our country. our own 10m trawlers cant make a living no more its finished. they rely on the prawns showing and if they dont then its game over and the full fleet are tied up. half of these idiots in government aint spent a day at sea in there lives , its about time they did and relised what it is actually like. clowns
