Bass fishing charter trip.

Not something you hear often here up north.

So tonight i phoned a skipper and asked him the question and he said there is a dam good chance we would catch.

So i booked the boat for next tuesday evening. 4pm till we finish.

The boat is Flamer2 from hartlepool. Cost would be similar to a mackrel trip at £10 so not a mega expense but this would rise if things went well and we stayed out till late(£15 was mentioned).

If anyone fancies a go there are places spare on what can only be described as a speculative trip. Spinning rods only will be needed.

Probably as cheep as a night out in the pub and a chance for me of a new species.

If you want to come along the boat is licensed for 12 and 4 have booked so far so places are spare.

PM me or contact John the skipper direct via his website (google flamer2 to find it)

Cheers
Dave

Thats encouraging Alan.

Its all very speculative based on a comment made by John the skipper of Flamer 2 about a session he had with some family members last year where they went spinning and bagged up with bass.

This resulted in me arranging the trip and John kindly agreed to keep the cost right as it is a trial and error trip. We would have liked to go out later but the tide times dictated that we have to leave the lock by 4.30 on that day.

I'll let you know how we get on.

Cheers

im not against what you and the skipper are trying to do as i know there is a bass fishery in the area, what i would be dead against is a charter boat taking people to fish the hw outlet. this would be to me the bass and many people i know disasterous. not only is this area protected from comercial fishing it can and has been fished out before now, for it to happen again would be unthinkable. think torness with boats.

Hi Patto,
I am not sure what the skipper has in mind...he promised to catch us bass is all I know.
Having said that i know the skipper is conservationaly minded...he is registered with the shark tagging scheme and practices catch and release.

Another point is that since I am organising it we will set a minimum size limit and from what I hear we are unlikely to exceed that. People from here who have fished with me know my feelings on protecting species.

With regard to the torness siuation I brought that up yesterday with the fisheries officers in a face to face meeting.

I personally feel you have done more harm by mentioning a particular venue in an open forum...but then I may be wrong.

Rest assured we will not go out and clean out an area and then sell the fish to some chinese...

Cheers
Dave
