Mick.

thought about giving it a go myself Mick mate, would be great sport

Aye Mick, I try every year, but had no luck with them, just pollack, coalies, mackeral and even small codling. It's being there at the right time with the right fly / streamer. best of luck Mick and remember not to spook them cos they are usually under your nose. :)

Cheers Ian,
I have already had a look on flea bay and it would appear i already have a multitude of lures in my present kit. Cats whiskers seem to be ok. I think next time down the pool the spare fly rod and some lures are going in the motor.
If i can spend 10 hrs at £20 a day standing in my local reservoir and catch nowt a few hours in some settled beach fishing won,t hurt. 10foot leader with 6lb flouracarbon line.
I,ll s--t myself if i actually hook something.

never tried it myself but where i go have seen lads doing it 4 sea trout and salmon and they do catch the odd bass

Hi good luck and let us know if yu get owt I have fly gear and thought about exact same thing including the cats whisker with gold bead eyes for a bit of weight or the zonks

Popped into Mountain high river deep at West Pelton today lads. They had some big maribu type feather lures in white with brass beadheads. Look like pike lures. 40 P each so bought three.
Defo gonna stick the fly rod in the rucksack next time down. with the other bits of gear-will let you know how i get on lads.

Mick, make sure not to whollop one ov the lures into yer rod when casting, i can show you a broken century fly rod when doing the same.

i,ve been fishing for 30 years now and while i have had the privlage of catching most types of fish in the sea, the bass still alludes me, i have tried every bait and lure known to man all in vain, so i don't think at this moment in time fly fishing for them is my best option.

i'm off to skye in the morning, taking the fly rod, campsite is on the beach and there's rocks on either side, can't wait to get whipping!!!!

i have seen peeps fly fishing in the north sea for bass, i have seen them catch schoolies and they put up a cracking fight. no reason why you shouldnt give it a go.
i have tried a few times early in the morning from a beach, just got hold of a few launce and had a mackerel, they fight really well! ;D
