bass Size limits

Areet Ian,I don't find it confusing its good that angling clubs set higher limit sizes for bass and other species.
Good on the clubs.

off topic, I only wish they would try and improve and reduce littering during the competitions.

I was of the same opinion as Darnc,I thought it was 41cm for Bass.Got this after a bit of research.
Minimum and Recommended Landing Sizes

These are the Minimum Landing Sizes (MLS's) laid down by DEFRA and the Recommended Retention Size Limits (RRSL's) suggested by the Angling Trust (formerly set out by the NFSA).

It is a serious offence to retain fish below the DEFRA MLS's. Please be aware that there may be additional regional or temporary restrictions in place.

Hope this helps.

Areet Harry, I agree mate the 36cm limit is too small the 41cm limit set by clubs and in the opens is more sensible.
The litter problem is a social problem not just confined to angling, it's a reflection of our society. It's infuriating isn't it?

Take care, Ian

Cheers for the response appreciated !
Was just checking cos amble comps everything little bit bigger than normal sizes all flats 27 in bucket of water
Whiting 30
No wrasse
Way forward really seen many a angler dump flatties and whiting after weigh in
Think more clubs should follow suit especially with the flats in water

41cm is the recommended minimum size by the NFSA however it is not illegal to keep bass smaller than this. The legal mimimum is decided by the government (IFCA) and that is 36cm. You will need to check with the competition organisers which one they are using. Personally I think the NFSA limit of 41cm is more sporting and use that one myself.

Here are the NFSA limits Sea Fish Size Limits - NFSA Size Limits - Sea fishing - Sea Angling Resource and here are the governments legal minimums Minimum Landing Sizes.
