sadly it has been brought to my attention that somebody is catching as many bass as he can and selling them, and have been told this is regardless of size. No doubt this is being done without a commercial licence which anyone selling fish needs. If you see or know of anyone doing this, I would imagine the appropriate authorities would be interested.

Well I would say anything more than 1 or 2 for the table is enough for anyone and if they are undersize then obviously the 'How many is as many as he can' argument goes out of the window completely.

Is this person shore fishing or boat fishing?

A few months back, my missus told me about the transit van going around our streets trying to sell fish to unsuspecting locals. One older lady down the road bought some and had to chuck it out. My missus noticed that there was no refrigeration unit on the vehicle so the fish was almost certainly rank and wether or not it's the same lads selling every year I don't know but there have been many complaints around the North East about fish being sold on the doorstep that are not fit for consumption.
What I would like to know is where are these fish sourced from? Is it what the commercial boats don't sell or is it the a group of lads going out every day on their pleasure boat and catching 'as many as they can'
Although most of us have issues with the commercial sector and their practices, it has also been mentioned from some of their members that they are aware of a small minority of anglers who catch their fish to sell without the relevant licences

Wish a new a bass spot that i could catch a few from, the 2 i new have dried up since April, nothing doing but the odd 1 or 2 (and yes put everyone back)

I have been told that the numbers being taken are substantial and what method is being used I am not sure as yet. They are being sold apparently to people of oriental origin, don,t what to get caught up in a racism row, who mainly use them for sauce by mashing them up, size wont matter.

They will be a group who go and buy what's left at North Shields fish quay for next to nowt and then target the elderly. They travel extensively around the north east and will sell as packs supposedly as a bargain. If you see them ring the police and try and get registrations. Trading Standards watch them as well. Not nice people

yup very easy to tel which house older people live at, the decoration, probably no car outside and tell tale signs such as handrails near doors etc. Theiving *******s do the same when touting for bogus building work etc.
