hi ,two topics about bass first one just heard of bass on another thread off steetly pier 11lb what a bass next biggest i have heard of was from adrian dunn a few years ago off lynburn 7lb any other biggies been caught? , whats your views on amount of bass about this winter never heard of many at all myself have the nets got them all thanks john

saw the fish being wieghed it was a cracker the bloke who caught it was as pleased as punch , hard to beat that in the north east .

Hi John, never heard of many getting caught to be honest but like you pointed out the commercial fishermen might have bagged them all lol,I think most people don\'t post there Bass catch reports for that reason, its a public forum so they probably look in ;)

There were a few posts on here last year well more than a few. Most of us will not mention the Bass word any more after the \"commercial fishermen\" decided to try to take every Bass from where we mentioned bless them. You never know who is reading your posts.

Jim.

Got to agrre with Willy. Best not to mention the areas where they come from. Look at Newbiggin....fishing well at the mo with it heaving with cod...Next thing y\' know the nets are out and those doubles that still had traces in their mouths could have been taken from the shore by one of ourselves.
Seaton Point was the same loads of fish early in the season and then next thing y\' know the nets are out and Seaton was dead.

Lots more bass being caught now. On the bass at Steetley it is the biggest i have got recorded from the north east, should it be a record as the area fished is apparently for permit holders only, should records be for areas where all anglers can fish. Thoughts please, already made my mind up, but could always change it

Difficult one that Alan, it is a record but as you say is it fair when a other anglers can\'t fish there. If anyone can get a permit to fish can\'t really see a problem but if it is just a select few that are allowed that would be different.

Anyone can fish steetly - there is a permit for a year which the first come got and they have a day ticket for £5 and 2 quid for your car to be parked in their secure compound. The money i believe is to cover their public liability insurance. So yes I think it should be a record.

Jim/Alan, in light of another thread here, would it be a record if it was caught on \'a mark south of the Wear\' ie Sunderland dock estate?

Argument for...its caught from the shore

Against....you shouldn\'t be there to catch it

Thoughts?.....

Depends what you think the record list actually does. I suppose. My own way of looking at it is as a guide to the size of fish to be found in a given area. In which case I\'d say all fish caught in that area should be included.
I know it\'s nice to get on the record fish list, but lets face it, the size of any single fish caught is largely a matter of luck.
Angling ability is better judged by looking at a person\'s record over a period of time, and judging on that, whether it\'s a history of match wins or a list of specimen fish caught.
I wouldn\'t feature on either count I\'m sorry to say.

Cheers
