Beach litter

Hi guys

I worked with Morpeth Council a little while back helping to produce a leaflet promoting cleaner beaches and adivising against littering. We all know that the majority of the people on this site are all for this and mostly take their litter home with them but especially at this time of the year you do get a lot of people who totally disregard respect for our environment. The only thing holding up the leaflets getting printed is any photos of littering whether it be your favourite mark which has been spoilt or some kind of fish or wildlife which has been damaged/injured by litter. If anyone has any photos of this nature please can you contact me. No doubt there's plenty on the internet but due to copyright reasons we are unable to use them. I don't want this to turn into a rant which I usually have this time of year but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm the same mate, never took one but wanted to name and shame. I'm sure someone had put something like this on the site before of one of their favourite spots and had the photos. Cheers anyway but hopefully someone will have
 
Going to have a walk along the sea front at Shields if the weather clears. The camera is always in the car so i will get some photos if I can.
 
will most prabably be down the beach next week, if the weather is fine this weekend Tynemouth beach will look like a refuse tip. Ban the metro, shut it down at weekends, bank holidays and sorry to say school holidays, until the kids teach their parents how to behave. Burried nappies, chinese take aways, fish and chip papers, beer and spirit bottles.

Which is exactly what I saw last Bank Holiday weekend down on Tynemouth Beach - buried nappies FFS :mad:...dirty dirty people :mad:
 
Wallsendo, took Ray, the beach cleaner three days to clear the beach after that bank holiday. At least one full skip of peoples rubbish, what got me they dumped some of their rubbish around the posts carrier three dust bins, naturally the bins where empty, must have been to hard to put it in them.

What I don't get is why do they only consider half the beach for the Blue Flag treatment? Same goes for Whitley - flags up saying "You are now leaving the nice area...your dogs are free to poop etc"
 
dogs are not free to poop, you have to pick it up or the wardens slap you with a £60 fine, 99% of dog woners do claen up after them on Tynemouth and a lot like myself clean other peoples rubbish up as well, as we are locals and care for the beach. Why dont they fine the messy bums that leave the nappies etc.

Glad you posted that one Alan, gets right up my nose when people start in on dog owners when it's the minority of them who, like everything, ruin things for the rest of us. We walk our 2 border collies on Druridge Bay beach very early in the mornings simply because they're hyper and it's a big quiet beach so they cause no hastle to other people - but regardless of the beach being empty we still pick up as soon as they unload and take it home with us. Get narked when the weather has been good though, find loads of human litter all over the entrance area's, including nappies :(

Because they apply the full criteria for the award to the designated bathing area. This involves sampling the water within the bathing area. Within the rules dogs are allowed in set areas as long as the clean up rules are enforced.
 
This is one thing I'm emphasising to the people doing the leaflets is that the majority of the rubbish on the beaches is from joe public and not from anglers but the leaflets are aimed at anglers (sort of like the countryside code thing). Hopefully some of these mackerel angling numpties will take note when they're handed one
