Belated Usan Report

Was up at Usan last week with brother Rod. Report isn't very good as the weather snookered us quite a lot.

Basically we were up there on:

Sunday 22nd - forecast was for 30 knots southerly.......forecast was right.
Monday - wind eased to 20 knots so the rain in your face all day was slightly more bearable.
Tuesday - dank, dark and miserable - 12 degrees max (wife is lying in garden with glass of wine - 30 degrees in Birmingham)
Wednesday - calm and bright - yippee
Thursday - similar with top temperature of 15 degrees
Friday - back to 25 knots south easterly (forecast was for 7 knots westerly)
Saturday.............same as Friday

As a result the fishing wasn't up to what we would have expected but we tried. There were a few fish about but we couldn't get away from codling between 1 and 2 pound. The best fish was about 5lb and we got some wrasse to 3lb. We probably averaged about 8 fish a day, between us. Here's some of the pics:

Hard lines on the weather being carp most of the time but at least you pulled in a few nice fish so well done. Nice pics also but a just can't get me nut around that gear mate, sentimental is it?

Practical and efficient rather than sentimental although there is always a memory of the past every time I use it.

Nice report David - the funny thing is I've only ever fished up there at night (with lads who know the place) so never seen it in the light of day - looks cracking! Well done on finding a few fish as well - I must try & get back up that way soon.

Gary :)

Rod's fished it a few times in the winter, in the dark and says the same thing - he's no recollection of where he's been when looking at the marks in daytime. We're spoilt in the NE what with the street lights and everything.

Nice to hear from you Bill - you're right about Rod, he's the oldest punk in Newcastle.
