Benfica v Newcastle

All to play for now back at Newcastle, good game and Benfica look a good team and having a very good run of wins including tonight.

Defensive errors from Newcastle and it's a shame cos they did have a great start and unlucky with the two near misses.

3-1 not the end of the world and it means full attack next Thursday night nowt to loss now.

The away goal is important.
 
Thing is harry you go out full attack and a good team like benfica
they will pull you to bits mate and pick you off willingly
 
All to play for at home. We can beat Benfica by two goals, we nearly did!
We hit the post twice and only lost due to two stupid defensive errors.
Let's see how good they are away from home.

Full house at SJP for tomorrows Europe 4th round return leg.
This is gonna be a big ask for Newcastle and I wonder what the backroom plan is in the home side camp.

Two strikers up front from the start. Or what ?

Do you think we should go all out with our strongest team and make this game more important than Sundays home game with Sunderland and use our returning injured players or save them for league safety by not playing them tomorrow.

I would like to see Newcastle progress in Europe but I think the league safety is more important at this point in time.
Can we do win, win, on both games tomorrow hard ask and uphill all the way but possible.

I don't think we're good enough to pick & choose which games we try hardest to win although I can see your point. We need to put out our best team with the squad we have to pick from in both games & see what we end up with on Sunday afternoon.

A win will be very difficult to get tonight but over 90mins anything can happen. If we can get at them from the first whistle but still stay tight at the back we have a chance.

I would like to see us play 2 up front tonight but feel Pardew will stick with the 4231 formation.

before the mackem haters start chirping in I would like to say congratulations to the lads on the pitch tonight that clearly played their socks off and showed that they deserved to get to where they did in the competition

A very tough game to go into with so many players missing from the squad. I thought we done well to get this far with so many injuries. Roll on Sunday.
 
No complaints at all...great to be back in europe anyway this year...will miss it next season.

Roll on Sunday, if the team can play the way they did in the second half i cant see many teams holding them out :)
