Best 'all round' rod for the n.east ?

For the beach's down south or fields up north.
Apart from that, century all the way. ;)

dont understand that, zziplex offer lots of different models from soft to mega stiff, they are hand crafted and are second to none, you are putting it over as if they are no good for fishing up here RUBBISH

Not really built for our coastline, in my opinion.
Sticks of rhubarb, and nowhere near worth the money, the zippy cult
pay for them.

I have recently bought the new Leeda Icon M-Sport Power. For the money (apart from sounding like a BMW) it gets my vote as a decent all rounder

Oh dear another thread gona turn into an argument lol

Zziplex are no more money than some of the century rods. Especialy after paying for the rebuild to get a decent finish and reelseat on em 😜 lol

Not quite sure how zziplex are sticks of rhubarb ? Depends which model you buy as well, suppose if you buy a profile for heavy ground then yeah it may feel 'soft' same as if you buy a ttld. By no means poor rods, each has an application. As for an all rounder there's lots of rods that would fall into that category. What some people do though is buy the most powerful rod in any given range and think it gives them an edge, very naive. I used an m4 evo in some of the worst ground in Northumberland on a regular basis with ease. I've had all sorts of rods including plain horrible things that were to stiff for any enjoyment. Now i can honestly say the c3 ld I'm using now handles anywhere that i fish which includes most heavy ground but has feel and also the grunt to hoy 7oz 2/3 blacks, a whole squid, razor, a handful of mussel and a half fillet of bluey into heavy ground and pull whatever I hook back out of it ;)

What in your opinion is the best all round ( if there is such a thing) rod for the north east coast. ?

Get yourself down to reelsport in south shields and have a look st the Reelsport Responce, I got myself one 4 or 5 years ago and I honestly wouldn't swap it for any other rod. Bit of advice though what ever tackle shop you go to, ask the owner of the shop what rod they fish with, 9/10 they will have the best rod in the shop and not necessarily the most expencive. At the end of the day though the best rod for you might not be the best for everyone else, I've owned or used alot of the rods mentioned in this post, for me the response is better but it may not be for everyone.

Txl gt built light with taped on black minimas. Ultra powerful rod, will cast any weight you can handle, 8-10 oz full pelt would be a breeze due to the power in the butt section. Brilliant bite detection, tip bends in the tide and shows dab bites at range!!, smooth smooth casting and doesn’t bite back if your timings slightly out. Will lock and pull the plug out if needed and as its a Zzippie you have reliability second to none and not to mention minimal depreciation your moneys safe should you fancy a change.

i have used a c3 ld and what you say about them i would agree what peoples probs with these rods are bite detection some or a lot would say tip is not very good for bite detection not an issue with me if you fish with no bait on your hooks bites are not an issue.

I use a Century Tip Tornado match which cost me £300 a couple of years ago from Nets. My second rod is the one I bought before this and it is an Abu Suveron £200. Both good rods but Abu slightly softer.
If I was to buy another I think I would probs go for the Ron Thompson axcellerator. Seen few about and cost only about £120 new. It is a very good rod for the money.
My latest rod is a 15ft Salt Surf rod to go with my Penn 8000. This rod is very soft and no good for heavy ground.
Mick.
