Best ever gig?

Zeppelin 1972 (circa) City Hall , first gig on their zep 4 tour with Newcastle the first stop so first to hear Stairway to Heaven ........... wooo hooooo

Mark heard that one about Aerosmith in 87 if it was 87,would have to ask my mate as he told me the same tale.
Seen The Cult at the City Hall they were excellent as well but we were lashed so I could\'nt remember alot.
Another good gig was Johnny Thunders at The Riverside,can\'t remember the year now.

I remember sitting through the aerosmith gig, thinking about the 75quid I\'d been offered for the ticket outside. Gutted. Defo 1987. I\'ve still got the ticket stub. In fact, like the saddo I am I\'ve got the stubs for nearly every gig I\'ve been to!

Jonny thunders...missed that one, but caught the John Spencer Blues explosion at the cumberland arms in byker. I\'d almost forgotten about that. That must of been one of the loudest, my ears rang for days after. Superb stuff.

still got my ticket stubs as well, loads of programmes as well, dont know how I got them home, seen a repro Motorhead T-shirt at some trendy shop a while back, the bairn said look dad theres your T-shirt,aye son but mines a real one lol, shame they don\'t fit me any more lol :D

Don\'t expect many on here to have heard of them but......

Half Man Half Biscuit.

Last seen them at the Poly in Newcastle, Think it was August last year.

Sorry It\'s \'The Uni\' now isn\'t it.

If any one wants a CD, I\'ve got every one of them plus some unreleased ones as well.

Who else could come up with song titles like..

Fu#king Hell it\'s Fred Titmus
Trumpton Riots
99% of gargoils look like Bob Todd

and the unforgetable

All I want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague away Kit.
:D

I\'m pretty sure my brother used to listen to them Marc. If you could do me a copy it would be appreciated.

Best gigs for me where always at the Riverside.

Stage diving and moshing to the likes of Napalm Death, Acid Reign, Lawnmower Death and numerous others of there ilk.

Have missed quite a few good ones at the Uni lately.....Fear Factory and Lamb Of God to name a couple.

Does anyone have a link to a site that lists who\'s going to be playing soon in and around Newcastle??

I had a better gig guide for the North East somewhere, its the name of a freebie magazine you get in record stores, forgot the name now

Gill Scott Heron at The Goldsmith\'s Tavern  He\'d played a massive show somewhere and was in the UK for a few more days, apparently he\'d asked to be taken to The Ghetto after being sucked up to and cosseted by his tour machine. Someone took him south of the river to see some proper dealings. Popped into The Goldsmith\'s which was a squatted pub in Deptford and arranged to play an impromtu session the next day. Managed to get in, 200 people there, absolutely tremendous. Best times have been at Parties though. CASTLEMORTON fucking rocked for days, and days and days ....................................................................and days

then I felt a bit poorly for a while (About 6 years :o )

Ian w ,my son went to the lamb of god gig ,he said it was great ,loves the moshing etc..well he is a fifteen year old 6ft skinhead into all kinds of mental music ,wish I had a quid for the number of times I\'ve taken him to the General after a gig for stitches ,plaster casts etc lol. From my own recollections ,Motorhead ,Bomber tour and Kiss at the city hall about 1984 ish however lately and just for pure viewing pleasure ....and coz wor lass said I had to go honestly...Kylie at the arena mmmmmm

Great to read the replies and realise that most of NESA has the same musical tastes as me (if that is a good thing lol)

Feel guilty admitting that I didn\'t mention the 1982 Mob Rules Black Sabbath tour at the City Hall and the 1981(?) Rush Hemispheres World Tour.

Used to roadie for \"The Brat Pack\" and \"White Knight\" for the Shields lads who get to the Office or anybody who used to get to that pub in \"No Place\" - the something mary???

Alanf - who was your favourite Ozzy guitarist??

I know what you mean Rob. About two years ago I was bar manager in a bar just outside Consett. We had a band that did probably the best gig I have ever seen. Unfortunately they have split up now but don\'t think I will ever see better. They were called Crashburn Molley, not the best name in the world but I think they could have had a great future if not for the demon drink. shame.

Jim.

rob my mate used to play bass for white knight another m8 plays lead guitar for the force
