I,m trying to get some sort of a picture of what is the best fishing marks in the N.E. say, from whitby to berwick.Rock marks, piers or beaches we all have our favorites ,but wich are the marks that produce time after time .I,m sure there are loads of secret marks well lets share the info, after all we are all pasionate about our sport or you would not be reading this.So come on lads tell us where the cod are really hanging out[my top spot is steetly]

Totally dependent on conditions on the day mate, nowt as queer as fishing; you think everything is perfect and the fish often dont oblige! Marks around Cambois over low water have allways been good for me though, either the beach, any amount of rock marks depending on tide height and conditions or the pier. Rarely go any further South than Whitley Bay unless I am off to the Humber.
If I drove as far as Berwick mate I would keep on going till I was up the Arboath/Montrose area, and then you can start talking seriously consistent 'good' winter cod marks! Which are well worth the travelling time, been up twice since New Years day allready this year.

I have caught 5 Codling this season....one on Whitburn Beach, the rest on Whitley Bay beach...my theory is that Whitley Bay has all the elements for "holding" fish...rocks, skeers, kelp and also clean sandy stretches

well my PB is 11lb 2oz.taken from the south shelf of the wherry, also had a few 6-6lbers from there, cant fault the fishing at whitburn/seaburn.Prefer the rock marks personally or the cliffs to beaches and piers
