Biggest of the season from the NE coast

Talking to many people the feeling seems to of been the same, loads and loads of prime 3-5lb cod this season but a huge lack of big fish and On-A-Roll fished everywhere from 2 mile south of Seaham to 4 mile past Amble and as far out as 36 miles including 2 trips to the Graveyard.

What was everyones biggest NE port caught cod and ling this season?

Mine was 15lb 4oz ling and 12lb 9oz cod

Think the RQ marina's biggest was 18lb before being gutted.

Was my best season this year thanks to the jester he put me onto some amazing fish I ended up breaking both my cod and ling pbs the cod was 24lb 5oz and a ling 21lb 12oz caught both of them from Sunderland area

I was just saying to my mate the other day, exactly what you are on about. No real monsters pulled up but plenty up to 10lb with a few in the low teens although I was smashed a few times. Had a few ling around the mid teens and some nice Pollock.

Yer we had more pollack this year than ever before 9 in one day with best 8lb.

Seems to be south of tyne had a bigger stamp this year but north had more consistent fishing

It has been a steady season with consistency , I have had other years where we have bagged up but also struggled, but this year the fish have been easier to find and I haven't had to go far to get them. All in all no complaints.

They are out there..mind in my 24 years of boat fishing i can say i have never seen one in our waters only from Devon.

late 1980s to 1993 i was a regular on shy torque whitby alan ward It was big fish every drop he used to encourage just 2 hooks because of this .fishing The Wall a mark long way off was a fantastic experience.TWO years ago i returned to boat fishing just once a month in the summer have yet to see a big fish 8 pound been the biggest but off northumberland as i won't pay £50boat plus the parking fees down whitby Heres an old picture on shy torque

Yes it's a shame we miss managed our waters, when I have fished norway and you find the feeding shoals aa they only in pockets it has been in the past 20 to mid 30lb fish every drop..we once had similar here but like the herring n tuna now a memory.
