Bimini Twist

Want to practice this one. Bit confused...Once youve tied the bimini twist into the mainline how do you connect the leader to it...see what I mean...? What knot connects the leader to the mainline to make it so strong? Please help. Cheers:mad::)

Here's the knot I use mate:

Fly Fishing Knots, Slim Beauty Knot - MidCurrent

There's a video as well to make things easy. Use the loop of the bimini in place of the doubled-over length of line. You'll need to tie your bimini so that the loop is about 8 or 9 inches to give you plenty to work with.

Be warned that this combo is so strong that if you've got any weak point in your mainline it'll most likely snap there if you get solidly fast up, possibly losing you a good deal of your mainline, so always use a rotten-bottom type link to your lead (I like the Gemini breakout links). :)

Not one I've ever used, but this any help?

Thanks mate. Going to have a go at both ---but that Bimini Twist looks mighty tricky. (I got thrown out of Boy Scouts you see...My mam always said I'd regret it)

use a figure of eight knot to tie to the bimini. im at work at the mo so when i get home ill post the diagrams i use to tie the knots.

I can't find a diagram of it yet, but I feed the leader through the loop, wrap it 3 times up the mainline (around the twist), then 2 turns back down over the 3 turns you've just made. Then feed the line back through the loop in exactly the same way it came in. Wet, and pull.

Really is a fantastic knot to use.

I've done a bit diy drawing here:confused:

First, feed your leader through the bimini loop, then wrap it 3 times around, going up the 'twist' part...

Turn the leader back on itself, and wrap it around the 3 turns you've just done, twice...then feed the leader back through the loop the way it came in....

Wet it , and pull tight. This was the method used in Sea Angler years ago when it first became popular.

art attack eat ya heart out even tony hart would be proud of that lol :D:D thanks for that lads by the way i do that knot myself and no i am not going to do a diagram.

i will just stick with 30 lb line straght throw :D

frankly in the middle of winter if I snap off then I'd just go with the simple old variant of the uni-knot, tying anything time consuming and complicated with frozen fingers will be a nightmare!

bimini twist

bimini twist

dont give up on the bimini twist as once you master it its the best knot going and even in freezing cold weather you will still tie it
