Decided to have a couple of hours at Hadston last night ( I know it was flat but I was suffering from caravan fever and the wife had the car ) anyway only got a couple of coalies they were a good size though, anyhow I was wading in the water for a cast and I saw something was swimming about six feet away from me I thought it was a big fish at first, it was a OTTER about three foot long I nearly s**t myself don't know where it came from maybe Duridge or the nature reserve at Hauxley

been watching otters for years whilst fishing! most prolific area is the tyne, almost anywhere in the tidal section. occassionally on the coast if you/re lucky like yourself. scotland, balcary and loch ryan have been approached by these creatures, they appear to be curious of us! in any circumstance feel privilaged and enjoy the moment.

Yes it was special just a bit of a surprise had a walk up to Hauxley nature reserve and asked if they had any otters up there and they said that there was a female and two pup's but they have not been seen for three week's,it was quite a surprise seeing an otter in the sea at low tide a few hundred yards from from the top of the beach eleven thirty at night pitch black Cheers Brian

north shields

i used to live in dolphin quays in shields overlooking the haddock shop dock and an otter used to come into the dock and it never failed to get a flat fish and it would munch it on the stairs opposite

Me and my pal watched an otter one night fishing of bondicar last year..it was catching and eating lobster in the pitch black.
