ahh, damn my ageing memory! Now that I do remember! That point in time I'd put in the early-mid 80's when a school friends family had a boat in the club there...

BUT!... what I'd been told by one salty old seadog, was that it was something to do with the herring being landed and the price they were sold at? I actually thought maybe it was an old harbour masters place given the multiple view-points?

could well be,i'll ask the auld salty dog that lives with me mam lol.
Its certainly been there for years though

I wa speaking to someone from the port about doing a charity paranormal investigation.
I think that was the building suggested because as has been said, it was used to pack barrels and also as a repair " shed" during the winter months.
So it had some history

There's large double-doors on the back of the building (square section at the back that looks added on at a later date), guess they'd be used for anything like that. Roof didn't look in very good condition when I had a look around, shame it looks to be sitting empty and starting to fall apart...

I spoke to my mam Lee and she reckons its always been associated with fishing and was called "The sale ring",if it is older than this she too would like to know what it was used for,she thinks it could well be a listed building, would be nice if it was restored, maybe its in the plans for the future if indeed the area gets redeveloped

excellent, I'll try doing a few searches on that name and see if there's any further info. It's certainly an interesting little building so hopefully they'll restore it and put it to use.
