Had a brief wander end to end and back again along the pier, spent most of my time at the end spinning deep and shallow without a single strike.

Wandered back, again casting here and there, nada until the shallows when I noticed a line of water stirred up from the pier that had some flotsam and the odd break on the surface - turned out to be sandeels, took one then realised why 5yr old line is a bad idea :D big mess on a cast that cost me a spinner, so I gave up.

Didn't see anything else taken to bait or lure, quiet pier though. Chatted to a lad who'll hopefully join here after I gave him the details (nice talking to you mate if you get on). Couple of other lads arriving as I came off, hopefully did better.

I'll keep doing short scouting trips until the mackeral show properly.

If they never came inw hen it was flat i would not expect them in this week as the water is sandy again.

What was the sea state like? planning on Thur/Fri Sat on the boat.

There's a wind blowing down the coast, sea otherwise is fairly flat considering, only wind movement rippling the surface.

Dunno about you boat guys, I've not been out since John took me on the Rose of Joyce in a nesa comp back about 2004!!!, but there's not much colour around blyth bar the dull sky making the sea look dark - no sand or rainwash colouring it at the mouth.

cheers for the report mate been down there many time last week and nothing but am sure they'll get here soon:D

I'll keep popping along and doing my scout runs once or twice a week - try to get a morning tide at the weekends or at least one afternoon/evening after work during the week. So with any luck there'll be one that's an actual catch report! :D

had a walk along the heugh today nobody on but the water was the colour of muligatawny soup ,just have to wait till these east ,nn,east winds die down.
