Blyth Pier

I was wanting to have a go fishing at Blyth - Can I fish the pier with the wind turbines on, or is fishing not allowed from here ? If not, I guess the pier south of the river is the place to go ?

The fishing marks only shows the southern pier - is parking safe around here ?

Thanks.

Hallo mate - welcome to NESA (10% discount in some Tackle Shops :D )

I don't think you can get on the pier with the turbines (could be wrong) so the south pier is your best bet...

Macky bashers love it - and it will always be full when the weather is good. But it also a good spot for bait fishing too or even float fishing.

Parking is OK - there's a small carpark just as you drive into the Port of Blyth entrance (you're not able to go any further into the harbour unless you're a permit holder)

I'm going across tonight at about 2000ish - it's a bit blowy out but it's better than sitting watching the missus watch Big Brother!!

The weather is glorious Sunday though supposedly

Enjoy mate ;) :D

there must be a way on to the north pier as i seen people fishing off there a couple of weeks back but parking on that side is a bit iffy lol so south one is better just dont go late at night on a weekend as all the little f*cking smackheads are out and about

Funny you should say that but on the South Pier tonight there were some young(ish) Charvas on apparently drinking cans and smoking spliffs....Met Gregg while there...not one of us caught like and I don't think anyone caught while we were there (which was a good couple of hours) ;) :D

Good meeting you Gregg

There is a way on, but its dangerous, and you arent supposed to go on. Personally, I wouldnt take the risk, for fish or otherwise. If you do see any smackheads, be sure to treat them with the respect they deserve, run over them several times.

were you guys bait fishing i had a good few knocks last time i was out on the southern pier just using rag and makky best time to fish the pier is first light and a good high tide

Spinning mate - I think next time I'm gonna take my bait rod tho...chuck a bait in the middle while I use the float on the lighter rod.

The same can be said for dusk and a high tide - expecially if it's warm calm night

we were at blyth 4.45 this morning .we were first ones on the pier it was was quiet fishing wise for about hour then i caught 3 in 15 mins and that was it for another 2 and a half hours (nobody catching anything and i mean nothing )so we went home about 8/ 0 clock ish there was only about half a dozen people left when we left .wind was a bit nippy and basically it was just a bad morning
wind has dropped now and it seems a bit warmer so if your going you might have more joy.good luck

TED180 , I turned up about 07:30 and I believe I fished next to you until you left.

I stayed until about 11:00. I saw only three mackeral and half a dozen big sand eels.

Dissapointing but batter than wall papering !!!

i was there with my son and daughter .i was wearing a black jumper and black hat (had to give me jacket to my daughter she was freezing) my son was wearing a yellow flouresent jacket. i was fishing about 25 yards past the bend if thats any help:)

I gave Blyth a miss at the weekend, and on the advice of the nice man at the Newbiggin tackle shop fished the beach just north of Alcan. Caught a nice sea bass and a coalfish, plus something else I couldn't identify (a bit eel like but very smooth and slimy, and olive green like a tench !!)

Well pleased for first proper trip out - and I think my son's got the bug for more too !!

The only pier you're allowed on is the West pier and the harbour bods will still tell you that it's at your own risk as the harbour is not dedicated to the public. The East pier is out of bounds despite people still going onto it, apart from the risk of getting in bother for trespassing getting onto it involved climbing around barriers and I'm sure there's been a few accidents on there in the past (pretty sure some guy fell and broke his back)...
