Pier's decking is a bit tatty and patched up badly (load of patches nailed on top of the boards for you to trip on!), always had some loose/moving sleepers even when I was a kid so nowt new there, but I've not heard anything about it being closed off.

there was one missing completely from the end dont know if its been put back or not. plenty loose and a few nails sticking up but safe enough i would say

theres one sleeper missing on the end top right corner other than that its fine. not much they can do to stop people going on unless there working on it at the time.

Souds like a reason for one more venue to be closed, as soon as someone puts a claim in knowing its in a bad way they will need to pay up and the pier will be closed like so many others up and down the UK.

that's prob what there on about then. like you say once
a claim gos in it will prob get closed and i for one don't
want that to happen as its one mark you can fish at any
time you want to go fishing......well feed the crabs:D
and there has been some good fish from there as the biggest
one i have had on there was 6lb 4oz last boxing day well
i think there was lots of good fish that day and night.

there was a report on here or another forum a couple of weeks ago where a lad was saying the sea was that rough when he fished it the sleepers were lifting.

There are 2 sleepers lifted from the bend to about 25yds from the end, just need smacking back down with a sledge hammer and some long spikes. The one at the end has a plywood board nailed over the missing sleeper.
The pier is in need of some repairs though, there is a 30ft section long before the bend that the hand rails sit on is totally rotten away, then there are the parts damaged by fires being lit in recent years for the brainless morons to keep warm, nuf said:mad::mad:

Not sure how any compo claims would stand if anyone did come a cropper - years ago I leant on the old light that used to be on the end and got covered in anti-vandal paint that had been slopped all over it, I had a moan to the harbour authority and was told that the pier is not dedicated to the public and anyone accessing it therefore did so at their own risk.

the pier is fine bud, it wasnt the last lot of bad weather, but the time before that when the pier was damaged and as far as i know, it had been repaired.

i have been on there a canny bit over the last few weeks and its been fine, they are constantly patching it up with raised blocks, makes it a bit of a mare in the dark lol.

she was moving around like mad the other week when i was on her.

i heard that thre were a few sleepers missing or moving, but had also heard that they had been sorted, i only fish it when the conditions are in its favour and very rarely go onto the end, so cant comment on that part.

was there yesterday but sea was to flat, only problem i seen was one sleeper lifted at one end which somone could trip over, acept from that everythings fine.
