We left RQ's around 9am and headed North to the ground off St Mary's where we drifted for an hour or so using a variety of baits like Mackerel strip, Prawn and Mussel, none of which generated any interest whatsoever. When the tide turned we dropped the anchor, beefed up on the baits and within a few minutes Peter had a nice Cod of approx 3lb and over the next hour or so another three Cod came to the boat with the biggest just nudging 4lb.
It's still a tad early but it was a cracking day to be out and it's a bonus when you get a few this early in the season.
