Hi lads 1st time on site.

Its the 1st time I have managed to get my boat out on our coast, I have been waiting weeks for my key to the sluce slipway, I normaly launch on the west coast of scotland as I have caravan up there. Any way I was out on Saturday for nearly 10 hours and only managed 7 cod (Very poor) all off St Marys about 2miles off. We must of travelled miles but the fish were very hard to find.
Does anyone have any information on Blyth fishing boat club as I would be interested in joining and taking part in any comps they might run.

Cheers Wigster.

Welcome to the site wigster.

The sluice is on my planning list for next weekend so I may see you there. Whats the name of the boat?

I just wish they would straighten that slipway :( and dredge that harbour.

Cheers

Iris M is the name, I used the other slip, what is the earliest after low water that you can get into the harbour and use the curved slip.

When I fished the sluice a lot we used a moored boat near the entrance and could get 3 1/2 hours either side of high water on most tides.

For slip launching I would reckon on 3 hours maximum. I always launch on one tide and recover on the next as this gives you longer at sea and a wider window to recover.
