What vehicle do you use for towing your boat

Would you go from using a car.... to a 4x4.......if not....why....

I'm thinking of getting a Discovery...........:)

Mine's a Nissan x-trail, loads of power, but no low box or could do with a low first gear. Just pulled the caravan 1700 miles without any probs, and is pretty good on fuel.

The Freelander was an embarrasment, it spent more time on the back of the recovery truck and in the garage for repairs, so it had to go. The Nissan's fine for what I use it for Chris. Would definately have another one.

disco all the way....

it'll pull owt any where, from slippery ramps to the M1

it has the LR box for any tricky bits,

you can throw anything in the back, go through fences, reverse into the neighbours car while tapping destinations into the sat nav, crash into steel bollards while the youngun shows you her new blackberry.....put the ar$e end in the north sea and eventually ruin the brake pipes that fail on the way back from the metrocentre, spill fish juice on the carpets in the middle of summer.....it's great:D

then simply wash it down and it turns into "the family motor" that neither of my 2 want to get into..... cos it smells.....:D

for sale.....unmarked landrover discovery.....you interested chris ?

Disco Power :D

I've had an X Trail on a 04 plate and it was canny, 40mpg but i didnt tow with it, so i couldnt comment on that.....but i'm thinking if i'm gonna get a 4x4 i should get one with the LR box like rob says for the tricky bits....where i live theres a pretty steep bank which during the winter is a pain, got a grand daughter now so i want a safe vehicle.....well thats what i'm telling our lass...:D

Nice pic Martin.....looks a good rig.....:D

ive got a subaru forester chris and you wouldnt even know there was anything on the back! ive got a norman 20 and a speed boat, the norman is on the pontoons at newburn but used to trailer about and the speed boat is at eastwoodburn at my dads house,i went up a couple of months ago to move it for him and the trailer was sitting up to the hubs in the mud so i was expecting fun and games but i flicked the switch for the diff locks and to my suprisement it didnt even spin and pulled i straight out! was well impressed with it:)

I towed my explorer elite with a vectra estate, no problem towing, but the slippery ramps at launches were sometimes a problem so I changed it for a ford ranger double cab, it'll tow anything anywhere and can pull 3 ton, it's the perfect towing vehicle , of course my boat is in the marina now, but I might just buy a trailer for her. I never got stuck in all that snow last winter either, whilst some posh 4x4's round here couldn't get off their drive

Discovery 2 4.0 V8. I am on my second one now(upgraded for a newer one with leather interior) both being on LPG and fantastic! Great fishing car and doubles up as a second car for us as we need two seven seaters due to the four brats! I find it so much more comfortable to drive, we end up going everywhere in my fishing car as opposed to the Mrs's newer zafira.

Graham.

Had two freelanders utter sh=t-, go local go Nissan terrano 2, better than disco, low box comfy and the 3.0 di will get ya 35 mpg, 2.7 di good too but not as frugal.
