Whats the best warm waterproof boots or wellies to get?
I'm using neoprene chesties at the minute but fancy a floatation suit so it will have to be normal size boots to gan with that.
The next question will be whats the best 2 piece float suit for under a hundred quid, but I'll ask that later:D

Cheers
Tone:)

See my reply to Waldorf's thread. If you have the money Muck Boot Tay Sport take some beating, a proper field sports welly designed to keep you warm when outside all day in temperatures down to -40 F. Very comfy and warm and OK to walk a distance in too.

As for the floatie anythng by Sundridge or Fladen is usually a good call. I've got the Sundridge Entec2 and it is a great piece of kit - lightweight, warm and totally wind and waterproof it is not restrictive either so I can still get the pendulum casts off no bother.

Muck boots are the best boot I have ever had, use to get cold feet every trip but have been out fishing for hours in all weathers and my feet are never cold these days, well worth the money.A good feature is that you can remove the insole to give a bit more room for thicker socks if required and they also support your ankles a bit more than other wellingtons.

As for the suit I have just purchases the sundridge crossflo and I have to say I am impressed I would have purchased the SAS but wanted it to be breathable, it was a right chew on to dry out my old Fladden one between trips. My mate has the Sundridge SAS and he swears by that.

Hope this helps

Steve

i would stick to your neoprene chesties mate, ive used a floaty suit and boots for years and ive just got some neoprenes and after wearing them just a couple of times i think my floaty has been dumped on the scrapheap.

For what its worth, I agree. I use neoprene chest waders with a flotation suit jacket over the top I stay completely dry, warm and comfy in all weathers. only thing that suffers is my hands as i havent found a solution yet.
The flotation trousers I have only used a few times as they were too warm and too uncomforable to walk far in. Buy a flotation jacket to go with your waders and you can't go wrong

warm wellies

warm wellies

Tone I suffer with terrible cold feet especially when its my turn at the bar !!!!
Im on my second pair of muck boots and having worn wellies day in day out for too many years these are the best . I use the esk because its heavy duty for warmth if I wasnt going to hung up on barbed wire I agree with Malcolm the tay sport would be my choice .

Interesting, I'm the complete opositte to Tony and Gerry. Wore neoprene chesties for ages and almost always froze, especially my feet. As for walking any distance forget it; heavy, uncomfortable and sweat something chronic. Since getting my Entec2 the chesties are gathering dust in the garage - the floaties is lightweight, far warmer and alot more comfortable to walk in. Mind you the Entec is a lightweight breathable suit which probably makes the difference but I doubt I'll ever be going back to chesties.

id never wear waders on a pier or fishing above the water only time id wear them is on a beach, wouldnt want to fall in wearing waders thered be no chance in getting them off in a hurry. iv got some cheap moonboot thing cost 20 quid but there lovely and warm, going to get myself some sketex moonboots soon costinf 55 quid they look like the ones i have but i think they will be better :p and as for a suit im using the titan suit which cost 80 quid breathable and waterproof im never cold in it and i hardly wear my coat unless it rains.

get the chemical warmers from the pound shop, the sticky back ones that are supposed to be for people who suffer with arthritis, stick em in your pockets last for 8 hrs heaven when you finish up baiting.

Going OT but I remember many years ago as a bairn fishing the Heugh and it was so cold the sea water was freezing on our line as we were reeling in. Fish were on as well but it got so cold the only ay to warm your hands up and fend off the chillblains was to p*ss on them

Cheers lads, interesting replies. The reason I want to get away from the waders is because, like a lot of you boys,my feet absolutely freeze in them and that really knacks up your enjoyment of the fishing.
Once yer feet are cad ya knackered like!

Tone ....do they do them in your size ? and what's with the sea fishing ,I thought you were a fly guy or even dare I say it ...super fly guy !

bought some waterproof furlined boots last week for £25 at the ashington factory outlet, great kept my feet warm all night. However I see netto have the same ones in for £15 this week GRRRRRRRR.....but they do work.

for your hands get some neoprene gloves.

I have got 2 pairs of diving gloves in garage, never thought of using them. thanks for the idea will try them next time, and buy a handwarmer from poundshop.
Regards cold feet in neoprene chest waders I bought some sealskin bootees from Outdoor World and never had any problems since.
Once I sort my hands out I will take on any weather or at least syay out longer.

I bought these ones from Netto about 8yrs ago they were £10 then so if the boots they are selling now are anything like these they are worth every penny warm as owt and waterproof.

john.
