have just bought a caravan at the above location right on the solway can you tell me if it fishes and what the best tackle and baits to use,Can you get Bass there
not the best place for bass but the solway around that area has the best flounder fishing in the uk. in the summer use 2 hook flappers baited with fresh peeler crab (other baits such as worm, macky and raw prawn will also produce well but when the crab are on the peel, from now til october crab is by FAR the best)
my favorite mark is the bend in the road about a mile before port carlisle but good flounder fishing can be had all along this stretch of the solway. i'm fishing over port carlisle tomorrow and post a catch report on saturday.
its only worth fishing a couple of hours either side of high water but beware on the bigger tides you get a big tidal bore around 2 hours before high water, wait til it passes before you start fishing.
