Thinking about changing the line on my 2 boat reels from mono to braid heard some good reports on braid what are the thoughts on this and what make of braid is best.

I've been using braid for years, and would'nt use anything else now. Use a shock leader though, it stops the wreck or rough ground fraying the braid, as for the type of braid, expect a load of different advice, i use 50lb and shop around for the best type at the cheapest price......:D

Mono on boat reels whats that :) go for braid and it will improve your boating experince 10 times over as you can feel bites and wrecks and better feeling when playing a fish.

Makes wise, we go through this every year.....everyone has there fav braid i would just pick a middle range braid and try it or do a serach for braid topics on this forum for loads of info posted in the past.

If it helps i use fire line 55lb braid on 2 reels and penn senitor on one and penn tide cutter on the other and all done me proud...only briad i have hated was Berkley Whiplash but others found it good so there you go :)

dynon 3000 55lb bs,fireline ,whiplash, code red:D:D:D all better than mono:D once you change you will never go back:exclam: well now heres a golden opportunity for somebody to post and say they did:exclam::exclam::exclam::exclam:

braid is the best by far i use daiwa accudepth 80lb breaking strain i attach 2 foot of 60lb shock leader to the end so i dont lose the braid oranchor the boat up :)

When I first started to use braid, onboard charter boats, the skippers use to slap me across the head "bloody stuff" they'd shout. But it was the Mono that caused knitting, bending and drifting and flowing about all over under the boat.

Last 2mtrs of 40/50lb mono with the end rigs is suffice.

50lb Tidecutter for me every time.

Agree with that matchman, my rods are all 8-12lb and nothing more...for our waters its all you need really based on most fish between 4lb and 8lb

definatly braid cant believe anyone is still useing mono for anything other than a shockleader the response is second to none not only for the fish it saves you weights and traces aswell

you have three choices.

1. braid
2. braid
3. braid

i swapped to braid for spinning for pollack in scotland and wouldn't go back to mono if you paid me. the only issue comes with the odd tangle but there really is no comparrison to mono.

I have used braid for years ,mono as backing line only ,you feel everything with braid just bought 300 yards for £24.99 of tinternet .
