Braid problems

Having been using 65lb whiplash I was fast solid the other day, and after loads of pulling I finally snapped it, cut about 15 foot off to tie a leader on, now it just snaps like cotton, no fraying or damaged line. Anyone else had this or shed some light?

had the same problem on Monday with 60lb spectra braid got stuck and managed to get it free on the next cast the brad snapped next to the swivel lucky I was not trying for a distance cast.
I put the 60lb braid onto my penn fathom 15 so I would not need a shock leader just strait through line as a trail run see if it was any good.
I have now removed the braid from the reel and put Berkley XTS 18lb with a 60lb bullet tapered shock lead.

66lb Power Pro, 80lb mono leader, Bimini / Slim Beauty connection (on a Saltist 20). Been snagged countless times, even unexpectedly so no rotten bottom meaning the break came at the 70lb rig body. Braid still good as new...

Braid has no stretch so should hardly need any pull (distance wise) before it goes. Could be you were fast on an old rope / net / pot line, the braid has been rubbing against this as you pulled for the break and hence much weakened?

No it was on rock but it wouldn't part use 65lb whiplash and 100lb braid leader 100lb rig body and 50lb snood had no rotton bottom just ment it took loads to snap it now checked the braid and it's not damaged but it has def weakened it.

I've been using spiderwire stealth glow viz in 22kg 0.25mm for a few month and find it does the job well enough. Stonefisher is a good braid with a higher diameter to breaking strain than some braids but again does the job well. Power pro though is the best I've found and is much more robust than a lot of braids out there. As with all braids though if they touch ledges or skeers when under tension they will part.
