Braid.

Following up my last post I have taken the advice offered and bought a 300m spool of Berkeley Whiplash braid for £20.00. Can I still use my 30lb class rod with this braid or do I have to invest in a more powerful rod. Sorry if I`m sounding a bit thick but this braid fishing is all new to me. I used to spend most of my fishing time uptiding on the Goodwin Sands and around the Thames estuary where I only used 15lb mono with a 60lb leader on an ABU 6500 C3 CT Elite, teamed up with a Daiwa 9 1/2 ft uptide rod, so as you can see all this heavier gear is getting me a bit confused.
Any more advice will, once again, be gratefully received.

There is no specific need to change the rod, however many anglers use a softer/lighter rod to compensate for the lack of stretch in the braid. Particularly if you are going after fast species like pollock and tope.

When you put the braid on put a level of nylon on first to help it grip the spool or it could end up spinning round.

Cheers
