Braid.

Hi Tooly, I've been using braid, (Fire line)for a few years now, and wouldn't go back to mono line. There is so much more awareness of whats going on around your terminal tackle. Use a 12lb test curve rod or similar, and you are less likely to rip the hook out of the fishes mouth. Arthur:)

Just started on the boats again.Thinking about braid. Is Berkley Whiplash any good.(45lb)

I've used both the fireline and whiplash. Fireline is noticeably thicker than Whiplash and stiffer, this gives it an advantage for easy knot tying traded-off against increased drag in the water. The last few spools of braid I’ve bough have been Whiplash; I tried something like Spiderwire (cannot remember exactly what) and binned it after the first session is snapped too easily for its breaking strain – although it could have been a bad batch. As an outside option, look up Stonefish, it seems good line and well priced.

I’ve found 30lb to be a good strength breaking strain, perhaps I don’t catch such big fish as the people here who recommend heavier lines. Whatever you buy, you’ll need to take a piece of wood to wrap the line around to pull it out of snags. A broom handle works well and saves slicing your hands open.

alreet tooly, ive used whiplash 30lb for all my inshore boat competition angling for many seasons now its a good reccommendation for sensitivity and tide cutting ability a very worthy purchase, 300yds approx £24 gerrys of morcambe online shop, see advert at rear of "sea angler" hope this helps you make ure mind up cheers korky..

Only one braid to use Power Pro, best on the market.
We are uptiding/downtiding(casting) all the time and
never get any problems, it knots very well also.

Cheers lads .
Ok 2nd question, can u use the same knots as mono?
The reason I am loking at 45lb is I want to use about 25-30 on my leader mono.

I use power pro , the only knot in the power pro is the uni knot to tie a swivel on the end of the braid , all the rigs etc are attached to this swivel. It means you don't have to tie mono to braid anywhere.

Hi m8,
yea still there,as to hiding, had an awful lot of chew at work with redundancies and stuff,so been keeping a low profile cos hours and everything got cut.Just getting back on feet now.

Dont worry if it was no good I wouldnt be using it myself, at least youve bought the best first time round. In the box the braid comes in it shows you how to tie all the braid to mono knots, just tie them up and use the one your most comfortable with.
