fished Saturday morning from the crescent into west bay.been told a couple of times to try the brocken leg,and that its like fishing into a big rock pool, took a couple of pics when I went back upto the car,is this the right place ?.if so any advice on sea state ect

half tide up to high on the small tides, come down the stairs and follow the cliff round 40yd lob puts you in the middle of the hole, used to be my fav h/w shot a lot of good fish from there proper name chapmans gully. davy.

Hartley skeer to the right, this is the hole to the left of Hartley skeer chapmans or nicknamed broken leg ,used to be able to cast into the gully from the top of the cliff next to the small caravan site till it crumbled away in the late 70s,80s. davy.

is it deep in there davy ?.does it need a big sea to push the fish in
fairly deep but a moderate sea best on small tides, you don't want it to big, have had 5,or 6lbs in daylight on flat seas, know other lads who have had small doublers around 10 or 11 ib but not surprised if lads have had bigger ones and kept it to themselves,a mark that's not fished that often now as they tend to head to collywell and the crag. davy.

It pays to read properly doh! I thought he meant this was the crescent and he was fishing after having a broken leg. Always thought of it as a high water mark off the cliff top. The skeer itself is a great mark in a big sea. Had some lovely fish from there and lost a few too. There's a few wicked ledges to get your fish over and some lovely weed at times. Very underrated mark. Collywell area also seems to have gone out of favour. It looked lovely on sat.

Fished here for the first time in the summer ready for giving it a go this winter. Managed a kelpy.
Davy there is a smaller gully (not very big) on the way towards the crag. Does this have a name?

Fished this mark in the nesa comp a few year back 'great mark very deep and full of kelp the only problem that night was there was to many rods on the skeer but still managed to pull one out

No is before devils hole Stan, it's this side of the crag, is hardly a gulley, more a depression.

think you must mean the bockhouse there used to be an airaid shelter there and you fished in front of it from the cliff into the devils hole you cant miss it as the grass is all trampled away, about 50yds from crag point, bit dodgy in the dark and a canny lift if you have a good fish on,,take care on this mark. davy.

Fish it off the cliff top at high water just along from the crag, think its called block house hole, Steve Sherman might be able to give you some advice on this shot if he sees the post.

Just to the left of the crag on the pic, go down the grassy bank and it's quite comfortable. Only enough room for two anglers though, had some good nights on there me and Mitch. You can fish it from further along the cliff top as well obviously.

As chukka says, collywell seems to have falling out of favour but we fish it and do pretty well there to be honest. Another high water shot round the corner from the crag can also throw out some nice fish too.

The leg still my fav high water chuck on a big sea. Had good bags from here and good stamp aswell with a few high doubles from it. As dave said need a neap tide on a good sea because when its big and a big tide it pushes u up to the cliff face and u can't get back with nowhere to go.
Even had fish to 6lb at low on the end of the skeer chucking 2 the opening. U can also b overun with rockling in the hole end big ones they give u a hell of a hit. Prefur it on a southeasterly when I have had the bigger fish but also good on northerly's.
