cart whats best way

got some cart and was wondering what your methods are for using it, have seen people use it inside squid or cart sausages, was wondering whats the best way to make a nice cart bait what do others use.

2 problems ive found in the ways you've heard of...

1. Using it with squid is good, but its a bit fiddly to get cart in and often the bait presentation looks odd.

2. It's ok sausage form, but it must be frozen as its a a right clart and messy when it defrosts and your using elastic thread.

I find the best way to use it is to put it in finger gauze or bandage as it allows cart to keep its shape even when defrosted. Once in the gauze simply tie off one end and thread or elesticate the package onto your hook. After that its up to where you cast it and of theres a hungry fish there... :).

Hope this helps you buddy.

finger gauze sounds a good idea ill get some monday cheers mate, made a few up inserting it into baby squid bit fiddly ill try your method.

I've tried allsorts inside squid, fingure bandages, armour meche and the best thing I have tried is to wrap it in cling film and keep it frozen in a flask then lash it on without remooving the film, the more you puncture the cling film the quicker the scent is released...

the cling film method may work mate but turtles mistake plastic bags and cling film as small jelly fish which they eat and then kills them.

I agree with Fingers here like. but a alternative method which would give the same result. cling filmed and frozen, then using 1 or 2 PVA bags... just unwrap then bag it and bait elastic it.. slow release.

Pva bags are no good they disolve in 10 secs infact they would have disolved by the time u have baited up finger bandages are the only way to go i have tried all diff methods t bags etc but are no good

wrapping in nylon tights worked well when i tried it, agree PVA melts mega fast round sal****er making even double patting impossible, also using cocktailed with something else and stuffed into armour mech worked canny especially now the make a heavier gauzed one,on the issue of the clingfilm method the hook is put through the bait that and then lashed down the cling film comes back when you retrieve so you can take it home..

been sat here thinking of a way to make the cart more bulky so it doesnt dissolve so quickly when in the water, i thought to myself i wonder if a bit of gelatine mixed in would make them more robust , nipping to morrisons soon to get some finger bandage and some gelatine will report back latter if it works.

How much are the crabs you need to use? I seen cart sausages come to think of it in a shop in ardwell and didnt know what it was. Will sausage skin nt work?

My mate makes them with nylon tights and calls them CRAB BALLS and am sure he attatches a little bit a wire to the back of the hook to grip the tights on with then wraps with thread to keep everything in place during the cast.

i use cart in cling film and lash it on with plenty of bait elastic then pierce the cling film and i have yet to reel in a hook without the cling film and elastic on..
in fact i have to cut the elastic and clingfilm off with scissors.. all this spent cling film then goes in my rubbish bag

cheers
Paul
