Hi all
av been fishing the best part of 20 year's now and I feel my casting is not that grate. I was wondering if anyone does lessons in casting? I have a Century Kompresser ss with 30slosh, I was on the field yesterday and only really could cast the length of a football pitch and mist of the time when I tried to take off the brakes a tad my line would just blow up in my face!
So if anyone knows anyone around whitburn/sunderland/south shields can you please help! I can travel and ill pay for the persons time. Thanks in advance.

thats around a 115yrds, i bet only 50% of ppl can cast that far mate, you see all the casting lads getting 200 plus, but ask them to strap a bait on and they will never hit 200 yrds, keep practicing

Thats when I struggle with a fully baited hook. Its no problem in dark but when I fished the Newbiggin comp the bloke was casting out about 30-40 yards more than me and was catching, where as all I had was birds nest every other cast. I thought sunday league pitches was around 90yards? Thanks for the input mate.

The length of a pitch must be between 100 yards (90m) and 130 yards (120m) and the width not less than 50 yards (45m) and not more than 100 yards (90m).

Above from FA site. Sizes vary it seems. Still a good cast with bait on mind.

Do you clip your bait down, I find a clipped bait is more streamlined, and protects the bait, but also adds a few yards !

110 yds ain't half bad with a full bait, but get some lessons it can't harm to have the ability in your back pocket, and I am sure it will help with your blow ups....these good lads on here will also know how to set up a rod, reel, and rig very well !

If you fish against that bloke again put a nick in his line at around 115 yds down :D

If you cant manage to get lessons try youtube, peter has lots of casting videos on there, simple cast like the brighton style that can add yards to your cast.

Casting at distance wont necessarily put you into big fish and some of the time will be casting over the fish, A cast of 40 yards could easily win you an open

Trust me mate I know. My heaviest fish came from about 50-60 yards out. Its in case I need to hit it long I have the ability to so.

why listed in sea angler mag ???
2 people I have named are excellent instructors, Chances are that they have learned far more people to cast than any of the instructors listed in any magazine, and a lot of the people they have learned to cast go onto the likes of the casting tournaments.

i wraote to sea angler casting club yrs ago and they gave me a list of local instructors... if i remember correctly they gave me kitson and collins contact details and went from there..

Sorry mate. I just don't know how to search people's names on hear.

being a former casting instructor myself for the sea angler in the days when you had to be able to cast 200 yards consistently in tournament events and were put on the masters list , however sea angler changed the rules to where any one could apply or be seconded of a master instructor , imho this ruined the casting instructors list as now there is some right tatties trying to learn people , the only proffesional casting instructor i know of is peter thain who charges for his services but well worth it imho ,be carefull who you get lessons of or you might come worse of ,
