casting help

Defo a Brighton cast that the true otg cast would be a nightmare on rock ends like IMO.
Most lads cast with a fishing pend cast oops did I say pend I meant aerielised ground cast lol

Yes, true otg is practically impossible to do off rock marks, it's got to be an aerielised version:D
The gutter thing I was on about was for flat but pebbly sort of ground because if you get a knock when starting the cast it could be doom:eek:

The only thing that knacks the OTG up on the beach is the grip wires digging in hence the gutter but with practice the same result can be had just need to realise the good old don't try and run before you can walk....;)
Oh and stay safe using the right end gear is imperative but that's a subject done to death pardon the pun because that's what results in the wrong hands!!!!!!

f***n h*ll, yev got a way with words like iva:D

Problem with an off the ground cast is that it has no place in fishing terms up here north of the tyne.

You might as well leave your sinker on the rocks behind you never mind in the sea!

It depends how far the lad wants to take it and TBH he sounds like he's doing well chucking 120yards or so with 30lb line and over head thumping..

In my experience simple is better for fishing purposes..

i use the otg syle or brighton cast of the rocks up north peter.as you start the cast it lifts straight off the rocks. have cast probably in excess of 150yds with big pennel baits .25lb plus leaderwith 525.its all about the confidence that it wont hang up initially

150 yards with 25 pound line on , dont be silly

You will be going some to put a big bait 150plus with -35 never mind -45

ha ha i appear to have some doubters as to my casting skills. 525 will hold 150 yards or more if its bulked up so you can just get the leader on too. none of your half full reels that u lads obviosly use. by big bait i mean 3 runnydown pennel style hooks 9 inches apart. you can get 300yds of .35 line on a penn so why not 150 yards of .45. think about it .its only maths. cast wise use a brighton cast if smoothish rock or aerialised brighton. also otg meanns any cast which starts with the lead on the ground. its not the name of a particular style.the cast you all trying to say cant be done is a south african cast.
so wots so hard ....on rocks big bait 25lb mainline.shockleader. brighton cast or aerialised cast if kelpy ....150yds nee bother or as im emptying the reel it maybe more .i dont know, i dont care really. might be 200yrds with a wind up me arse..... so yes peter cod cod cod this thread is great.

It must be Danny moskopes New profile :D for one if you bulk it in the centre yout leader knot will catch the cage or if it's bulked up to much you will constantly crack off

SILLY ha ha wots silly about those distance. is it because youve tried and cant cast those distances ..i wonder. 150yards is no great distance. theres a lad down your way .pie think hes called .hes deein 200 yards from rock ends n cliff tops with similar gear. seen him on computer he uses century gear which he gets for nowt to promote there gear i think.

very rarely crack off phil. as i put magnets on full.leader knot to one side with 8 turns of leader on reel at least. no im not danny moskops im better looking .lol.

Pye uses 18lb line no breaks just spool and spindal and how many other people do you know who does it? Not many if any

thing is mate i can cast those distances high inertia or pendulum with baits on , i have actually measured my casts over grass , but this is from firm ground solid footing and a hell of a lot of practice with 0.37 line and a fast multiplier, over rough ground where its slippy under foot , i wouldnt want to try it , allso you must be losing some gear 150 yards or more to reel in over rough ground , i would have to see it to believe it TT
